Before We Begin
Runaway Brides is a 2014 Turkish drama that I stmbled upon in last week of January 2023. This isn’t much of a review but more of a recap and my thoughts on each episode.
Kaçak Gelinler Bolum 1 Written Review & Update
The Accident
The episode begins as we see a motorcycle rider driving at high speed and hitting against the curb. Later, Can covers the story-he is back to being the “police reporter” now. The guy is Ozgur. One of our hero is injured,
Ege comes to meet the girls but Neriman welcomes him instead. Later, he comes to talk to Kaynat but she asks him to leave.
A man tries to steal the bag from the girls. To my surprise, it is Almilla who takes the initiative. She kicks the guy’s knife-holding hand, and uses pepper spray as a safety measure, blinding herself. Long story short, the girls take a selfie with the same man. Come what may, Sebnem’s social media game is always on.
Izafet sees the girls waiting outside Seniha’s mansion. She offers them to stay with her. They aren’t happy, but what other option do they have?
The next day, Memo sees the girls at Izafet’s house and informs Seniha. Seniha can’t tolerate this, so she comes and asks the girls to come back. Almilla and Sebnem go but Kaynat refuses to go.
“I don’t want to go to the house where I am not welcome,” Kaynat says.

The Bet
Almilla leaves a voice message for the real Akif. He doesn’t match Almilla’s imagination, though. And he’s rude to the waiter. Almilla takes off, disheartened.
Can calls Kaynat and tells about Ozgur. Almilla also comes to the hospital and stays with Ozgur. Later, Kaynat and Can talk. Kaynat wonders why people lie, and Can tells a sweet story about his grandmother and how he lied to make grandma happy. Sweet!
Kaynat gets a job at Mufit’s shop. She also gets a job as a dog walker. Ege comes to see her at Seniha’s but runs into Sebnem. Sebnem scolds Ege and asks him to stay away from Kaynat. This girl is fierce and I love her. She doesn’t lose, not at all. When she’s tasked to look after a little anti social girl Ruya she teaches Ruya how to be confident and beautiful. There’s nothing she can’t do.
Seniha and Sebnem argue whether the latter likes Selim. Fun talk. Sebnem challenges to make Selim fall for her in two days. Sebnem meets Selim who makes her wait. Later, she asks him to meet up and do anything of his liking. They play pool, and it was such fun to watch. Sebnem pretends to be a novice but ends up bearing Selim. Now, Selim is obliged to do what Sebnem says. She has a long list of things to do.
Sebnem also tells Seniha to bend the rules because she was sure of winning the bet. Like I said, she never loses.
The Date and The Apology
Can comes to talk to Kaynat but Mufit interrupts before anything happens. Now, Can has to wait, and Mufit may have gotten a wrong impression of Kaynat. To fix this, she bakes some goods for the shop and the customers seem to like it.
The dog walking is not going well for Kaynat so she falls Can for help. She drops her necklace which layer Can recovers, he’s so sweet.
Selim follows Sebnems letter to the T but Sebnem is set on humiliating him and clicking a few foof pictures. At last, she brings Selim to the hospital.
Ozgur is recovering now but Almilla wants to talk only after he gets better. Selim drives them home. Sebnem and Almilla make soup (awful) so they fall Kaynat for help. This is the perfect chance for the three heroes to bond.
Kaynat makes soup for Ozgur. Almilla stays to talk to Ozgur while others leave. When the day is over, so is the punishment. Selim stops the car on the way and asks Sebnem to get off the car. It was lovely to see them bicker non stop.
The episode ends as Can brings the necklace and Ege sees Kaynat hugging Can.
Awesome!
And that’s the episode.
