Before We Begin
I have been meaning to watch Sen Çal Kapımı for almost a year. The problem is, I found a website which had listed all key events and the detailed article spoiled it for me. I mean, this drama goes through some pretty bizarre twists and turns. Besides, this drama has two seasons. It is never a good idea. I watched Emergency Pyar, and they could not maintain the contniuity of the two seasons. All I’m saying is, I have my apprehensions about this dizi.
But then, last week, I saw a few Urdu dubbed episodes of the drama, and I thought–why not?
Alright, with the basics established, let get to the episode.
Sen Çal Kapımı Episode 7 Written Review & Update
So, after an emotional night of remembering his brother, Serkan plays guitar for Eda. Later, they embrace, and then Serkan drops Eda home. He asks Eda to keep this to herself, and she promises that nobody will ever findout. Touched by Eda’s sensitivity, Serkan gifts Eda a guitar pick, and Eda is so thrilled as if she’s been gifted the world. Just look at her face.
The way Serkan looks at Eda and Eda looks at Serkan, it tells us that they are falling in love, but neither of them know it yet. Despite her denial of being in love, Eda packs a gift for Serkan for his birthday.
Seyfi wishes Serkan the night before, and so does Eydem. The mother-son talk while Ertikan listens to their conversation. Eydem and Ertikan clearly have some unresolved issues, and we know whatever Eydem is saying will hurt Ertikan. And, it does. The next day, he goes to work in casual wear just to irritate Eydem. This is when Eydem wants to tell Ertikan that she had overcome her fear and stepped out of her estate. It broke my heart. At the same time, I could not help but admire how well each character is crafted.
The next day, Serkan’s office’s adjacent building has some repair work going on, and Engin suggests that they work at Serkan’s house instead. The team (Engin, Piril, Leyla and that goofy guy who likes Fifi-I forget his name) arrive at Serkan’s house. Eda wants to celebrate Serkan’s birthday, but she also wants to maintain a distance. Serkan has won a big contract from an international firm, and the team is singing praises for Serkan and Selin. Even Serkan admits of his strong feelings for Selin.
“Ferit and Eda are temporary, Selin and I are forever,” Serkan says.
The look on Eda’s face broke my heart.
Needless to say, Eda doesn’t like Serkan’s attention to Selin, but she takes everything in stride and even agrees to send flowers to Selin with a love note.
On work front, Eda takes on some “patent” work, which she has no clue about, that’s the first mistake. And, the file she gets has some original documents, that’s the second mistake. It’s a huge responsibility. By the way, nobody knows what Fifi does. She looks and acts like a bully with a shitload of contacts and she can get any and all work done within minutes. I like her character. Also, she helps Eda with the patent thingy.
The episode ends as Fifi leaves Eda with the file containing original documents, that the foreshadowing that something will go wrong with respect to this file. Hint: Kaan might steal the information and the whole blame will come to Eda.
And now we wait for my predication to become true. It was not sad, but just a precursor of what’s to come. And I must admit, I loved all the foreshadowing.
Today’s episode is one step closer to sadness and distress. Eda has sent flowers and a card to Selin, and Ceren kinda knows what Serkan is upto. Eda has had enough of hiding the secret, so she spills it in front of Ceren. Yep, now Ceren knows that Serkan and Eda are only pretending to be engaged just so Serkan wins Selin.
Selin asks Eda to arrange a dinner, for Serkan and Selin, to celebrate winning the contract. Eda puts a brave face and agrees to do the needful, even though she had been planning to go out with Serkan to celebrate her birthday.
Even though Serkan sees that Eda is upset about something, he can’t figure out what it is. But I like that he understand Eda enough to know something is wrong. This is only 22nd episode, and I know there are a lot more misunderstandings on the way, but I already feel bad for this couple. The way Eda addresses Serkan as “Serkan sir”, it is a bit funny but breaks my heart on so many levels. It is all about a contract, and it is purely professional now.
Serkan and Selin meet for dinner. I had expected this to be a romantic date where Serkan would confess his feelings for Selin. Instead, he asks Selin to transfer her shares so he has the complete control over the Holdings. Serkan really is just about work and business… Unless it’s about Eda.
While at the dinner, Serkan gets a call from Melo who tells about Eda’s birthday gift and dinner plans. Cut to the next scene where Serkan joins Eda for soup in a local shop. This dizi often takes bizarre turns so quickly that I can’t understand it much.
Anywho, Ceren is helping Engin win Piril’s heart. Jealousy, the age-old technique will work here just fine. Piril is so jealous of Ceren, we can see she’s upset when Ceren is around.
Eda and Serkan arrive at the sight where Eda will be working as the landscape architect. He has mixed feelings about Eda, whether she would be able to do this job or not.
Eda and Serkan arrive at the sight where Eda will be working as the landscape architect. He has mixed feelings about Eda, whether she would be able to do this job or not. Eda meets the woman that Serkan has hired, Shaziya. I like his smart move-He knows that Eda will leave after the contract, so he has put another talented landscape architect on the project who will not only mentor Eda, but also continue the work when Eda is gone. Smart boy!
We see a montage as Eda works with Shaziya. Afterwards, she asks Serkan if she did okay; Serkan has mixed feedback, as usual. I like that she is seeking feedback. She is new to this world, and it doesn’t hurt to take some inputs from others. Smart girl!
Much as expected, Kaan has copied the designs. He calls Engin to drop the bomb. Serkan flips out. He blames it on Eda (just as we expected), and asks her to explain the situation. Eda is as hurt as could be.
Eda: If you really think I did this, I will leave right now and never come back.
Really good acting by all.
Forget about Eda, others are equally shocked-Engin, Piril, Leyla, Erdem, Eyden and Seyfi. Later, Piril speaks in Eda’s support, and Serkan snaps at her, too; Piril leaves. Engin tells Serkan to think straight; he also leaves. We see a nice moment between Engin and Piril. These two are meant to be together.
