Aasmanon Pe Likha

Aasmanon Pay Likha (Urdu: آسمانوں پہ لکھا) (meaning Written on the Skies) is a 2013 TV show that aired on Geo Entertainment television. It stars Sajal Ali and Sheheryar Munawar in lead roles.

Qudsia (Sajal Ali) is a middle-class girl who dreams of a simple married life. Unfortunately, her in-laws demand a hefty sum of dowry. Qudsia’s family were not able to pay the dowry. Her father eventually has a heart attack after getting insulted. Aaliyan (Sheheryar Munawar), who has come to attend his employee’s daughter’s wedding, ends up marrying Qudsia.

Qudiya’s Dilemma

At hospital, Abda blames everything on Qudsiya. She is hurt by her mother’s accusations. So, she takes a cab home. Asma chachi, her sisters and cousins are worried when she locks herself in the room and weeps.

Long story short, Qudsiya tells her sisters that her nikaah is kinda farce. And they talk about the sad reality of how helpless a woman is in a marriage.

Aliyan isn’t worried about this nikaah; it’s adventure for him. Sultan reminds for divorce again. But Aliyan doesn’t pay much attention, until…

Review

In one scene, grandma says to Rana:

Tumhein Rai ka parbat banane ki aadat hai.

I like that grandma says “Rai ka parbat” and not “Rai ka pahad” as is the norm. The term “Rai ka parbat” reminded me of a Imran Series novel by Ibn-e-Safi under the same title.
