Dar-e-Nijaat | Episode 9

PS: I’m not happy with the screenshot but it was the best I could do. I haven’t brought my headphones here (I’m in Pune) and can’t watch the usual way (on my android phone) so had to watch on laptop and it wasn’t behaving nicely.

A new drama by Umera Ahmed. That’s all I want to say.

Writer: Umera Ahmed
Directed by: Saqib Khan

Dar-e-Nijaat Episode 9 Written Update And Review

Tilawat

Abu Bakar’s tilawat brings tears to my eyes. Anyone reciting Quran on screen brings tears to my eyes. It makes those characters so real.

And he isn’t reciting just anything. The verses he reads have the same context as that of the episode. Umera Ahmed does it really well. Does anyone remember Jannat Se Aagey? In that Hina Khwaja Bayat’s character recited ayat 11 of Surah Al-Isra (Surah Bani Israeel)

The same ayat Umera Ahmed has already referenced once in Darar-e-Dil. Some ayats are such that we keep coming back to it.

Very intriguing story line and scenes like Abu Bakar’s recitation have a magnetic pull.

Faryal’s Married Life

Faryal has come back home because she doesn’t want to live with Shuja anymore. She has a list of reason, a very long list of reasons.

1. He doesn’t share his phone’s password
2. Doesn’t share private things
3. Refuses to obey her whim and fancy.

Sure, she has reasons. I didn’t say her reasons are valid.

This isn’t just a joke. This scene shows a deeply rooted problem of priviledge. Shamsa and Habeeb have turned their daughters into psychos and nuisances, they just don’t know it yet.

Shamsa and Fuzaila talk. Shamsa sides with Faryal, and Fuzaila sides with Shuja (obviously). Kishwar Jahan tries to convince Shamsa, Faryal and Habib to now blow things out of proportion.

Faryal: Dadda, aap ka zamana nahin hai.
Dadda: Agar zaban pe qaboo na ho na toh beizzati kisi bhi zamane mein ho sakti hai, chahe tumhara zamana ho ya mera.

Hehe. Bizzti ho gayi Faryal ki toh.

The Past Teases

Abu Bakar’s phupho has come. There’s a very sweet and yet very profound scene at the breakfast table. It exposed so much but didn’t feel like an info dump.

Short summary: Khushbakht is very kind towards her 4 nands and has honestly distributed Aman’s jayedad amonst all rightful heirs.

Phupho: Safiya ko maaf kar dein.

Very cryptic conversation and beautifully written lines. What had transpired in the past? Curiouser and curiouser.

Cussing Elites

Habib yells at Shuja over phone. Shuja snaps back. He has some very sharp come back which I enjoyed very much.

Habib: Divorce Faryal.
Shuja: Ok. You could have texted, you didn’t need to yell over phone.

Mic drop. Jaw drop.

Right in the middle of this conversation, Abu Bakar brings the goodies that phupho brought. He is extremely uncomfortable but Kishwar is so desperate that she seeks Abu Bakar’s help in Faryal’s matter.

A Tussle Between Right and Wrong

Zamil asks Zaryab for coffee late at night. They spend some time the way they used to before… Zami’s change of heart. I couldn’t help but notice that Zamil’s cap had some ruwan… what’s that called in English?

And Zaryab insists on going to a night club, drinking, dancing, smoking… On the way back, Zamil has a fight with some guys on the street.

Zamil: Main jab bhi bhurayi ki taraf aata hoon, tumhari wajah se aata hoon.

A very agitated Zamil calls Arham for moral reinforcement. He explains his kashmakash, seeks advice.

Arham: Do whatever you want in your personal life but Allah’s will should dictate your life choices and decisions.

Profound words. Arham is the second best character after Abu Bakar. And his voice has such a soothing effect. I think he even has a nishan-e-sajda on his forehead. Aptly cast.

Nameer Khan has nailed the restless persona in this scene. Meri anxiety spike ho gayi us ko dekh kar.

Jokes aside, your company really does have an impact on how you think, act, decide. I have made many a decisions in my life that I regret to this day, all because I was surrounded by people who aren’t right for a muslimah, not then, not now, not ever. Allah hum sab ko seedhe raaste par bane rehne (ya us se qareeb qareeb rehne) ki taufeeq ataa farmaye. Ameen.

Salaam!
