Dil Wali Gali Mein | Episode 12
Let’s get the obvious out of the way: this drama is making sense now. The last episode and this one, were quite entertaining.
So, neither Mujtaba nor Khadeeja are willing to rent a house from Hamza. they discuss it. Khadeeja gives Mujtaba a very nice pic of this scene was probably the first one to show that that has faith in Mujtaba. It came as a nice surprise. After 11 episodes, we finally see a glimmer of hope, a smidgen of trust. Not too shabby for Khadeeja.

Staying the night at a godam, not getting a place to rent, staying away from mother and his wife; all of this has taken a toll on Mujtaba, clearly. When a pain-in-the-a customer Seth Quddus starts yelling at Mujtaba for no reason, Mujtaba just loses it and lashes back. He wasn’t wrong, you know. These people with monies think that they own the less-fortunate ones. And even after that, both Anwar and Mujtaba know the right thing to do would be to apologize cuz Mujtaba can’t afford to lose his job, can he?
Mujtaba: zyada bol diya kya maine?
Anwar: Kafiii.
It broke my heart to see Mujtaba apologize to Seth Quddus. Sach kehte hain log, naukri badi kutti cheez hoti hai. Business karna chahiye. Islam mein iski targheeb bhi hai.
I know I have a job but I ain’t happy about it. I’m at that stage now that I can’t quit, either. You can say that I’m used to this slavery.
It’s too late for me but save yourselves.
Guess the quote (without Google) and win a surprise gift from me.

In this episode, something unusual happened: Kukki said something that made sense. Can you believe it?
Khadeeja being the usual angry-for-no-reason person accidentally breaks Kukki’s headphones. The argument escalates and Kukki says:
Tumhari problem yeh hai ki tumhein lagta hai tum sab kuch kar sakti ho jab ki tumhein sirf ilzam dena aata hai. Tamkenat, Mujji, washroom. Problem tum khud ho.
True, true and absolutely true. I couldn’t have chosen better words to describe Khadeeja. That shows some good writing. Honestly, I’m not saying that the writing is a problem in this drama. I’m saying it’s too real, and the family is so freaking dysfunctional that it makes me gasp for air every now and then.
Moving on…
~~~
Ishtiyaq has once again saved the school with his stroke of genius. Two teachers are fired and the others quietly agree to continue working. He gives all credit to “apni Fayeza”.
And the look on Tamkenat’s face…
Oh, and Durdana asks Ishtiyaq to do the impossible.
Durdana: ab ek kaam aur kar do. Mere bete ko wapas le aao.
Ishtiyaq: In Sha Allah
Now, the look on Ishtiyaq’s face.
Oh, and Ishtiyaq also met Mujtaba. It was the best scene of this episode, and the two best performers of the lot were in one frame. Hamza Sohail is damn good, I hadn’t noticed. I mean, seeing him in a rom-com and now seeing him do something so complex, bravo, bhai!
~~~
While Mujji is busy apologizing to Seth Quddus and save his job, Anwar does something genius: shows Khadeeja where Mujtaba is staying. Brilliantly shot scene.

And then, after all the shit they’ve been through, they finally call each other. Khadeeja breaks down. It’s moment like these that Sajal Ali shines through. I find her acting very boring otherwise when she’s yaar-ing everyone.
Guess who sees her crying?
Bilal!
And then, as expected, Bilal comes to meet Mujtaba, and invites him home to stay with them until things work out. The bechargi on Mujtaba’s face, priceless.
When Kukki and Deeju are looking online for a place to rent, Bilal brings Mujtaba home.
Kukki possessively takes her bag back while Khadeeja brings tea. My first and only thought was: itni chai kaun peeta hai bey ek baar mein? Mera toh din bhar nikal jaye uss ghada bhar chai mein.
And let’s part ways with the best line of the episode.
Kukki to Deeju: Fumigate karwao apne shauhar ko
