Dobara is a new drama that started airing on October 20, 2021.
I am not thrilled by the first episode but I can’t write it off solely based on my hellish bias towards some actors, right?
You can meet the cast and characters here.
Without much further ado, let’s dive into the second episode.
Dobara Episode 2 Written Update and Review
Mehrunnisa’s track
Sehr and her mother are there at the funeral or just to put aag mein ghee. The lawyer visits and informs that Hidayat Ullah has left everything to Mehrunnisa. Not many people are happy about it. Mehrunnisa is still stuck in the same loop – Hidayatullah snatched my childhood from me. Bahen, guzar gaya tumhara husband. Jaane bhi do ab. Badi hi koi “mere murghe ki ek taang” type aurat hai.
I geddit… Hidayatullah has done many wrongs but that doesn’t mean that she would spend her life moping and sulking. She even listens to music.
Her husband has passed away, and she’s listening to music.
Her husband has passed away like two days ago, and she’s listening to music.
Do you see where I’m going with this?
One could listen to music, but there’s a time and place for everything. Circumstances change things.
Her husband has passed away like two days back, and she’s listening to music. It’s not in good taste, especially in Muslim culture. I understand that other cultures may even play music at the funeral itself. Things change their meanings depending on the circumstances. What if someone passes away, and someone starts to dance right next to the deceased? Not in good taste, right?
It reminds me of Pakistani movie Cake. While I loved the performances and the storyline, there was something deeply disturbing as well. I’m not sure if I have reviewed the movie but I will just mention my grouse here. When the mother nears her time, the family gets together and sings some song to celebrate her filmy life. I don’t recall all the details but this is the gist of it. Disturbing, oh-so-disturbing.
I digressed, my insincere apologies!
This woman Mehrunnisa is sort of celebrating her freedom. If she was so suffocated with Hidayat Ullah, why did she continue the marriage? Aisa thha toh divorce could have been an option.
I find it hard to sympathize with her.
Mehrunnisa asks Zameer to look after the business.. Durdana is miffed with this, and she opposes the decision as well. But this game goes to Mehrunnisa. Durdana is plotting against Mehrunnisa, and it’s evident. We will know about her motives soon. Hopefully, it’s just greed, and only greed.
Mahir’s track
Mahir’s side starts with a scene which is a perfect example of zero-to-hundred in a second.
Excerpts:
Kab tak zaleel karte rahoge mujhe (okay). Mujhe nafrat hone lagi hai khud se (a bit much, but whatever). Kash tum paida hi na huye hote (what’s that now?). Ya phir main tumhein Aedhi ke jhoole mein chor aati (hold on…). Tum mar kyun nahi jate. Dafa ho jao. Mera ek hi beta hai Asfand.
Aur Mahir ko kakh bhi farq nahi pada. Girlfriend ke sath paratha roll khane chala gaya. We see what kind of character he is. Bindaas, never taking things seriously, thoda shameless thoda selfish…
Mahir’s stepmother is no different. She asks Jehangir to ask Mahir to leave the house. Zoya’s colleague Zaman has proposed to Zoya, and now Mahir must find a job and soon. Will he get serious, ever?
