Recap

The telefilm begins as Chhota Malik is readying for an interview and his parents are readying for his marriage, the one that will happen only after he has secured a job. I know, long term planning huh…

On the way, he sees a girl struggling to start her car. Being the good Samaritan, he helps her and she takes off without so much as a thank you. Haw, rude!

Our girl Mona is a manager of the firm where Kamran is applying for assistant manager. Convenience!

Mona selects him without even asking a single question because that happens like never. His parents learn about this selection, and arrive at the office with dhol tasha because that happens like never. Malkani falls in love with Mona instantly. Who wouldn’t? Mona is so pretty… I don’t like people when they use lenses. But Sarah looks pretty even with lenses. So gorgeous!

Phupho accepts rishta without even seeking Mona’s consent. Turns out that phupho likes some Malik (hint hint, wink wink) and they could not get married because of parents’ interference.

Mona rejects Kamran for his loud and flamboyant family. Mehboob goes to confront Mona and instead runs into Ammara, his ex girlfriend, no less, no surprises for guessing.

Then there is a very stupid conflict and they all live happily ever after.

Review

The Malak family is too loud, a stereotypical portrayal of Punjabis. Danish nawaz in particular hams AF.

I like the subtly with with senior Malik asks Kamran to apologize to Mona. The biggest question I have is, how the hell did Kamran and Mona get a change of clothes?

But overall, a mindless comedy…

I guess it is a jab at Corona weddings, Shadi Corono, geddit?

I have admired Sarah Khan for long, especially after her annoying-as-hell character Meeral in Sabaat.

It is not unpredictable but enjoyable nonetheless.

Non-Review Rant

I was looking at my old posts, much like people look at old photo albums, and found this draft dated February 15, 2021, unpublished for more than four years. I was like: I will take a look. As I read through the draft, the storyline seemed eerily similar to something I’ve recently watched: Telefilm Review | Dil Ne Kaha Dil Se | Eid 2025 Special Telefilm | Har Pal Geo

And guess what else is common in the story?

The writer Misbah Syed.

Is that why Aina was repeatedly shown to steal ideas from other, older dramas? Is this okay? I mean, barring a few details everything else is same, even the cast repeats Danish Nawaz and Muneeb Butt. It’s not a bad telefilm but like a rehash of this was made in 2025.

Disappointed.

Until next review, remember in prayers.
