Winter Love Episode 27 Written Update and Review

Okay, so welcome to the finale episode of Winter Love drama. A drama that I felt faltered on several accounts.

1. The title: a drama airing in peak summer days with title “Winter Love” which has very little bearing on the story.
2. The styling: by extension of the title itself, the styling and wardrobe felt so out of place. seeing the cast in jackets, mufflers, caps… uffffff Allah… Paseene mein paseena aane lagta thha.
3. The casting: the actors playing Zark and Meerub/Beerum were both so young and seeing them talking about ishq mohabbat made me shiver with…disgust? Cringe? And Meerub was always so made up, more than all the other, older actresses of the cast. On the other hand, the main lead, Mawra Hocane and Khushhal Khan who earlier played khala-bhanja in Qissa Meherbano Ka and now a romantic lead… I couldn’t see even an iota of chemistry between them. Zero. Nada. Zilch.
4. The characters: Mushk was one of the most unlikable, whiny, one-tone character. Meko Mera ghar hona, Hayat achha nahin hai… The whole drama we saw her talk about just that. Until the very last episode. This was probably Mawra’s poorest choice and weakest performance. Keep in mind that I’m seeing her work since 2014.
5. I could go on and on but I have to finish this list at some point and get to other things in life. So let’s stop here at 4. I’ll come back to this, for sure.

Where are my manners? Let’s recap the episode quickly.

1. Hayat finally realised he has to break Soha’s heart and calls things off.
2. Qadeer sells the house, gives money to Roohi, keeps the girls’ share in almari and leaves a voice note to inform that he’s leaving. But he’s caught at the airport with undeclared cash. What becomes of it? Don’t ask. Nobody knows.
3. Gulzar fixes Gulnaz’s tauham parasti by a short, one-time fake bimari. If it was that simple, why not fix it way earlier?
4. Hayat and Mushk get married.
5. Soha ke sath bura hua but she deserves, better for sure. Some fine moments by the actress.
6. Several months later, Sitara and Qamrduddin leave over Winter Love cottage keys to the couple. Gaye woh dono Italy. Waise bhi un ka lame-ass cottage kaun hi chalayega.

 

This was one of the most underwhelming dramas and most underwhelming endings I have seen in a while. But I’m glad it’s over.
