Yunhi Episode 16 Written Update & Review
Assalam Alaikum, fellow drama lovers! It’s time for another recap and review of the latest episode of “Yunhi”. And let me tell you, this drama is getting better and better.
A shock
This episode takes the Suraiyya’s drama a little bit further. Kim goes out to meet Zulfi. They talk, she reads some Urdu poetry, and then they go out for lunch. Kim sees a familiar face in the restaurant-Suraiyya’s.
Suraiyya is out with her beau Owais. Owais is serious about Suraiyya and hastily tells about himself, his education and job, family background and his intentions for Suraiyya. He is damn serious, which made me heave a sigh of relief because generally the story pivots in the direction of “daghabaaz saiyaan”, you know.
Anywho, Kim promises to help Suraiyya.
A Taunt
At home, Dawood tries to fight for Suraiyya’s cause even though he doesn’t believe that Suraiyya might be interested in someone else. His conversation with Buaji was so disturbing. Dawood asked his grandfather to ask Suraiyya once, but Bauji just doesn’t pay heed.
“Don’t worry. We are not doing anything against the shariah. We all know how religious you are,” Bauji said.
I don’t know what his real intention was, but it sounded like a taunt to me. When one person in the family is a bit more religiously inclinded than others, such taunts are inevitable. What disturbed me more was that Bauji didn’t even realize that not asking the bride’s permission is against shariah.
The conflict
The conflict of religion continues after Dawood pick up Kim from the shady restaurant-the same restaurant where Suraiyya was also present a few minutes ago. Kim questions Dawood’s dual standards about religion, that he doesn’t ask his brother or father to grow a beard but expects her to change her dressing style. Dawood has a befitting reply, which you can watch in the episode. As usual, their conversation shows us two categories of Muslims. While Kim’s questions might come from ignorance; in real world, people do live with that ideology: Main kyu khud ko badloon. The answer is simple: Kyunki Allah chahta hai. PERIOD.
By the way, I liked how Zulfi took all the blame and asked Kim to calm down when Dawood was being agressive. It’s this balance that makes this drama a pleasant and relatable watch. Also, the old world charm of every frame is so addictive.
That’s my take on the episode. What did you think of this episode?
