Mase Stirling—with his balls and his billions—might be the perfect leading man for some.
Not Fiona.
Mase is a baseball player, billionaire’s son, and all-around fun guy. He collects names and numbers as easily as his father pays the bills, sliding into DMs as smoothly as he slides out of their lives. He’s a player both on and off the field and all the tabloids stories prove that he likes it that way.
Fiona prefers the quiet life, happy to watch her friends fall in love like one of her favorite romance novels. Mase, with his leading man looks, isn’t the type to be a knight-in-shining-armor—at least not until he swoops in to rescue Fiona from a panic attack in the middle of a Las Vegas nightclub, But after a few Alabama Slammers, some dance moves even better than Sam Rockwell, and her own Pretty Woman shopping spree, Fiona realizes there’s another side to the scoundrel Mase Stirling.
A side she might actually be falling for.
But when family and furious ex-girlfriends get involved, Fiona’s happily ever after is threatened. Will Mase be able to rescue her again, or will she have to save herself?
Marrying the Billionaire Best Friend is the fourth book in the Suitor Science Series, a sweet romantic comedy with a billionaire bad boy and the sweet, shy girl next door proving that opposites do attract, and true love might be found in Las Vegas.

Comedy, Romance and Drinking All the Ways
Non-review Rant
There was so much drinking, my goodness. Just reading about the champagne made me want to throw up.
Anywho, so this is probably going to be the last book I read in October 2023. That makes it a total of 6, 7 if I include the one I DNF. From 10 books in September 2023 to 7 books in October 2023, I have slipped, but hey… Office work pays me, while reading is just a hobby, so you know what takes precedence.
Recap
Fiona accompanies her friend from Toronto, Canada to Las Vegas, USA to celebrate her friend’s engagement. She isn’t a fan of their host-Mase Sterling. However, the night the party starts, Mase shows a different side of himself. They drink and spend all night together-talking, joking, laughing, shopping and then getting married.
Oops!
Did I just ruin the book for you? Nah. It’s right there in the title.
Review
That been said, I liked how their chemistry is depicted and how their relationship unfolds. If it wasn’t for so much drinking, I’d have liked it better.
When it comes to romance novels, there’s something undeniably alluring about the “love at first sight” trope. But what happens when you take that concept and put it into fast-forward mode? That’s precisely what Fiona and Mase experience in “Marrying the Billionaire Best Friend” by Holly Kerr.
If you read the section below for my notes, you will see that I’ve marked two lines, once by Fiona, once by Mase, where they say that it isn’t love at first sight, just love in fast-forward mode. Now, no matter how we put it, this is literally “Love at first sight” trope, even though it’s done well. Fiona and Mase spend a LOT of time together before tying the knot. But still… It’s quite a lot to digest especially that their hate-to-love, get-to-know, get-married, meet-family, all happened in less than forty eight hours.
At first glance, it might seem like a typical love story, but upon closer examination, the narrative takes an unexpected and speedy turn. Fiona and Mase spend an extraordinary amount of time together, sharing moments that would typically span weeks or months, in just a matter of hours. It’s like the ultimate whirlwind romance.
While this accelerated timeline might be a lot to digest, it’s intriguing to witness their journey from initial dislike to getting to know each other, and eventually, tying the knot—all in less than forty-eight hours. Their chemistry is palpable, and their unfolding relationship is depicted with a sense of authenticity.
One aspect that may have tempered my enjoyment of the story was the frequent alcohol consumption by the characters. Nevertheless, “Marrying the Billionaire Best Friend” delivers a unique take on the classic love story, leaving readers with a compelling exploration of love that unfolds in the blink of an eye.
Some Lines I Liked
And some mistakes I noted. This should give you an insight into the book, and into my mind, and how it works when I’m reading–not that anyone asked.
Chapter 1 – Page 4
I am the epitome of tolerance, patience and second chances
Note: This is just a few pages. Too many names thrown in already. I don’t know who’s who.
Chapter 13 – Page 114
It might not have been love at first sight for either of us, but it was love in fast forward for me.
Chapter 15 – Page 148
hall oo the sixteenth floor
Note: Oops! Typo.
Chapter 17 – Page 170
This isn’t love at first sight, but rather love in some fast-forward warp speed.
