So, episode 19 is here. Let’s finish it quickly.
For a refresher course, check old episodes. Since I barely recall anything except for a few character names, here is a recap:
Maala Episode 19 Recap & Review Thought Dump
- Kabeera contacted Aliyan for doing jaadu on Mahi
- Aliyan threatened Zara to tell everyone the truth but she doesn’t cave, yet.
- Ziyad came back and met Maala offered to help and some money for Badar which she didn’t accept. Mahir took Maala home under the pretext of her security.
- Birbal introduced Suzain, his wife to the family.
- Aliyan met Maala and told her about Badar and what he wanted in return.
- Another confession between Maala and Mahir. I count it as second, you can say this was the first and only from Mahir’s side but I don’t agree.
My two cents in the name of review
Even if you haven’t watched the Bollywood movie Masaan, you must have heard/watched this line:
sala ye dukh kahe khatam nahi hota bey?
I generally tweak it because my office work never seems to near its end.
sala ye to-do list kahe khatam nahi hoti bey
But you get the feeling, right? I feel the same when reading Nemrah’s novels. Revenge kabhi khatam hi nahin hota, as you would remember from Namal. Hashim’s daughter (let’s call her Hamna, cuz I don’t recall her name) becomes a con artist if Jawahar raised Hamna to avenge the Yusufs.
And now this, Maala. Jaadu kabhi khatam hi nahin ho raha. Generations are involved in it, ek ke baad ek. I know Nemrah is trying to show us the ugly face of Muslim society. Jaadu tona is deeply embroiled into our blood. I get that, but boy is it hard to read about. I guess what I’m trying to say is, we all know who we are, but when someone else tells it to our face, we can’t stomach it. And the naysayer be like: Maine to sach kaha hai, tujh ko mirchi lagi to maiN kya karooN?
