Raaja Rani Episode 1 Written Update and Review
Recap
We see hansome Zaviyar stepping out of his car, receive eid greetings and giving eidi to the people who work for him. And then he’s about to meet Soniya. The dream discontinues and Zaviyar aka Baba wakes up looking around for Sonia. Our hero has lost his memories in some accident and has perhaps lost the love of his life Sonia as well.
Rani is working at a workshop and a lecherous customer tries to grab her hand. She cusses, slaps him until he runs away. Our heroine has anger issues. Her mother disapproves of the anger issues, the fights Rani picks, Rani’s job, everything. When Rani comes home, there’s a big tamasha at the house, followed by a very (unnecessarily) emotional scene as Shahid narrates his life with Shaziya. Anywho, they all sit together and eat. Itne ghareeb hain, lekin dining table hai inke ghar, niche dastarkhwan pe nahin baiThte.
Zaviyar’s father is worried about his iklota waris’ mental health, while Zaviyar’s cousin (I forgot his name) has some bad intentions for him. He tries to down Zaviyar in the pool. The episode ends there. Of course, Zaviyar will not die, but then, would his memory be jogged in some way?Speaking of memory loss, I just finished reading What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty. It’s a great book. Stay tuned for a detailed review.
Review
It was okay, I guess. I didn’t hate the heroine, so I guess I can watch a few episodes. I still can’t promise if I’d be able to watch it till the end.
One thing that I generally hate (and hated in this drama as well) is bachpan ka pyar. Did you see the young Raaja Rani? Itne chhote bachche pyar mohabbat ki baatein karte huye achhe lagte hain? Argh.
I have a feeling that Faisal bhai works with every newcomer. There was Farq with Sehar Khan, Fitoor with Hiba Khan, Zulm with Sahar Hashmi, Hook with Kinza Hashmi; and there could be more that I don’t remember. I’m not saying he chooses his heroines (or maybe he does). It’s just an observation.
Also, this whole “dargah” concept I fail to understand. Allah se maangna hai, dargah pe jana, diya jalana, yeh sab Islam ke khilaaf hai balki sarasar shirk hai. Astaghfirullah. I first noted it in Dillagi and that was 2016. It’s 2025 for crying out loud. When would our writers stop promoting things that are wrong?
