Review

I was on the edge of whether to like it or not while reading this book..

The book is about a married couple who moves to the suburbs because of the husband’s job .. While the wife tries to fit in and misses her old life in the city, husband seem to be enjoying and not being as considerate as he was before ( your first clue) .. Amidst this there is a murder and the who dunnit although it is quite obvious at that point.

There is another parallel story line of the wife’s past where she had to escape from the crutches of a serial killer and somehow this draws her into interviewing the other copycat serial killer with same MO.

Positives :

  • The author tries to keep the suspense with two story lines …
  • Good vocabulary used in the novel, I learnt many new words…
  • The plight of the wives explained is very near to reality and hits spot on to all the married women.

Negatives :

  • The book drags on and on for quite a bit in the middle.
  • I was a bit annoyed by the constant use of sentence like where the wife says “ She was getting a feeling but could not pinpoint what it was” at many places in the book.
  • The twist was a bit expected, I had it figured out halfway through, and I think of myself as pretty naive…\

All in all a good read…

Rating: 3.5/5
