Reason for Binging
I was kinda forced to take JioHotstar Subscription and wanted to make the most of it.
Reason for Choosing the Show
Seemed like a good idea.

My One-Line Takeaway
Interesting premise and a few likeable side characters — but the lead never connected with me, and the show felt uneven overall.
What It’s About
The show follows Nell, a struggling journalist who returns to her old life and ends up working as an obituary writer. As she writes about people who’ve died, their “ghosts” begin appearing to her — pushing her to confront her past, choices, and relationships.
My Review / Thoughts
The premise was interesting initially.
But I couldn’t relate to the FMC at all — except that she wrote. Somehow, I disliked her throughout. I think the actress is Gina Rodriguez? I haven’t seen her before or anything, but I didn’t like the character or the actor — both felt unlikeable to me.
Her roommate was the best character. Even her best friend and her mean boss had more personality and presence.
I didn’t like the love angle between the boss and the roommate. It felt unnecessary and awkward.
At times, the show gave me a Just Shoot Me vibe — especially with the father–daughter dynamic in a publishing-type work setting.
What I Liked
-
The roommate’s quirk and humour
-
The mean boss adding some energy to scenes
What Didn’t Work for Me
-
Couldn’t connect with the FMC at all
-
The character arc felt shallow and inconsistent
-
Love angle between Nell’s boss and roommate felt forced
-
Tone shifts — sometimes heartfelt, sometimes flat
-
The premise starts strong but loses charm over time
Viewing Experience
-
Light watch with short episodes
-
Works more as a casual background show
-
Not emotionally engaging enough for a binge
Favourite Character / Moment
The roommate — easily the most grounded and likeable presence in the show.
Who Should Watch It
-
Viewers who enjoy:
-
workplace comedies
-
light fantasy elements
-
-
Not ideal for viewers who need a strongly relatable lead
Final Thoughts
“Not Dead Yet” had potential and a unique setup, but the story didn’t connect for me emotionally — especially because the supporting characters felt stronger than the lead. It works as a light watch, but not one I’d return to.
