Revisiting Chaudhri and Sons
Because… why not?
Four years ago, I posted this: Top 10 | Chaudhry and Sons | 10 Things I Love About the Drama
Four year later, I was binging this drama for this had some of the funniest lines ever. I also wanted to post about Billu and his jackets. The main reason to search a particular episode was that of Billu dancing and Shakir staring at his son. Both Imran and Noor-ul-Hassan were too good in that scene. And then I watched the whole series in 4 nights, a few episodes at a time.
This post will have little structure because I don’t think I have done something like this before. But will try to have some sections.
Some Noticeable Moments
And some of it might be a repeat of what I might have said four years ago. I have not read my own posts for fear of being influenced my old opinions. This is ekdum taazaa taazaa.
Episode 13
Dada while introducing Shakir to police inspector (Professor Bakht brought police to search for stolen exams papers)
Dada: Mera puttar hai, mujh se 2 saal bada.
Episode 17
Dr Salma comes to Chaudhri house to check Pari jo ki behosh hai. Looking at Dr Salma, everyone has become a patient. Shakir wants to consult Dr Salma for gas and this is Billu’s rection.
Billu: idhar bhi gas ka zakheera nikal ayaa hai.
🤣
And Nimmo’s “badi lightein maar rahi hain” was still hilarious. I vividly remember noting this the last time I reviewed this drama.
Episode 18
In sha Allah pairon mein soorakh honge Aaj iske. When Pari gets down from the jeep while going to pay a visit to Chanda’s qabar
Episode 19
دادا: زبان بتیس دانتوں کے بیچ بند رکھنا
بنٹی: بتیس؟
دادا: جتنا تو موٹا ہے تیرے تو بیالیس ہوں گے
Episode 22
Dada’s jugtein on everyone is so funny, especially Shabbo’s reaction on those jokes.
Episode 24
I had forgotten the scene where Salma and Dildar are in the same coffee house where Bilal wants to take Pari (when they are out to shop for Bunty) and then Tashfeen and Paro also come to the same coffee shop and Dildar hides behind a magazine (or was it a newspaper?). It was so funny.
Episode 31
I liked how Pari told the truth to Bilal, and how Bilal staggered backwards, shocked. Ayeza was so so good in that scene, and so was Imran but Ayeza was just too good. More on that later in this post.
Also how Bilal very quickly realised that Pari was indeed innocent and had been trying to tell him (nice little montage of flashbacks), he takes a U turn. Literally. And he had stepped out of the house barefoot. I don’t recall if I had noticed this the first time I watched this drama.
Episode 32
How Shoaib explained Pari’s innocence to Bhola… I mean, Bilal. Shoaib could be a lawyer huh?
And then Bilal’s real feelings when he learns that Pari is missing… Very dramatic and very fulfilling scene.
Bilal: Why did you go alone?
Pari: Kyunki Mera naukar nahin hai iss ghar mein
Pari saying something to the effect of, “I shouldn’t have trusted your mohabbat, shouldn’t have told you the truth, shouldn’t have come here.”
Sohail Saab’s performance when he finds out who Pari really is.
Shahrukh was treated very unfairly in this scene: dadi asked his help (to bring her new phone number to Pari) and when he did, she yelled at him for no fault of his.
Episode 33
Duniya bhari padi hai chalte phirte murdon ke saath
Episode 34
Paro to Tashi:
مشکل کام صرف وہ ہوتا ہے جو انسان کرنا نہ چاہے
True dat, sistah!
Ten More Things I like about Chaudhri and Sons
- The last few episodes were too emotional and had too much of rona-dhona. Ayeza was crying for most part of last 12 episodes.
- I feel that Ayeza doesn’t get enough credit for her acting. For most, she’s just a pretty face, ay least that’s the feeling I get when people talk about her not shes got talent.
- Shabbo’s “14 grade ki teacher” claim got to my nerves. In the middle of the season, she sounded more “whiny” than “funny”.
- Dada always noticing that Nimma does nothing and just gives directions was quite interesting.
- While binging this time, I couldn’t help but see the comments that liken Imran’s performance of Bilal to Bhola. I was like, he’s the same person. Some expression would be repeated. Having said that, I feel that Bilal should have been a smarter, sharper guy. Imran looks more like Bhola than Bilal Chaudhri, if you know what I mean. These days Imran has lost a lot of weight. If he had done that for Chaudhri and Sons, it would have looked much better.
- Unpopular opinion: Irsa Ghazal was screechy in many places.
- Madiha Rifat some scenes are too good like when she breaks into a peal of laughter and then suddenly stops. It’s SO GOOD.
