Mere Humsafar Episode 2 Written Update & Review

Shah Jahan and Raees are still arguing over Haala. Shah Jahan isn’t happy about taking care of Haala, but Raees ki baat toh patthar ki lakeer hoti hai.

Haala, the little girl isn’t happy about this. But who will listen to her? Nafees has given a lot of pounds. Raees is spending with both hands.

Nobody is looking after her, or her needs. Where would she sleep? What would she eat? She sleeps alone on the chairs. Sofia and Shah Jahan, especially the latter, is miffed with Haala.

Haala has an impressionable mind, and she spills everything that she overhears in front of Riffat Begum. Raees loses his temper and even slaps Shah Jahan. Tch… I hate it. I also hated that both Sofia and Shah Jahan ill-treat little Haala. Every little thing is blamed on her, nobody talks to her. Aise kon karta hai with little kids?

The scene cuts to Hania Amir walking alone-tired, unkempt hair, but gorgeous as ever, might I add. But the circumstances haven’t changed for her. Things have gotten worse, in fact.

Review/Rant

This drama is doing a good job of showing. We see that Haala is trying to mingle with the kids, that Hamza likes the little girl. But Sameen doesn’t let Rumi or  Hamza talk to Haala. This goes on to show that Haal would be left alone, and that Sameen will turn out to be an evil, cunniving person. We also see that Raees and Riffat Begum who have promised to take care of Haala aren’t doing any better than Shah Jahan or Sofia, either.

All seasoned actors are giving their best. Amir Qureshi has very little screen presence, but he stays in his character, and I liked it.

It is a refreshing change to see Hania as Mazloom after her Dilruba, but then, aisi mazloomiyat kis kaam ki?

But that is the only good thing about this drama.

I don’t understand one thing. All these years, Nafees is sending money, and he doesn’t know how that money is spent, or how his daughter is being treated. When he left Haala, she was young. Why can’t the current Haala tell her father? I know, I know… He wouldn’t listen. Woh apni majboori ka rona royega, but she can at least tell him, no?

The subject matter of drama is so last season. When I was growing up, which was aeons ago, these type of stories were the heart of Urdu digests. A rich little girl/boy stuck with her/his selfish and greedy people who not only use her/his money but also keep taunting.

That’s the thing-it was aeons ago. We are in 2022 for god’s sake. Come up with something new. At the heart of it, this drama would be a cousin romance, correct? Remember Suno Chanda? That’s cousin romance done right. In that drama also, Arsal and Jiya faced their families’ opposition, but it was done tastefully.

Also, before I sign off, I questions Tara Mehmood’s choice lately. She is playing awfully venomous Salma in Amanat, and a nagging mother in Dil e Momin; and now this. She should try more versatile roles, no?

QOTD

Do we need to show such people in today’s day and age?

    1. I agree 100%. Or at least show something frivolous, like a sitcom, but we don’t need such dramas yaar… Amanat kya kum thha?

Recently I started pardes, it’s okay.. the first half was great then after that it just got stupid HAHA… man,,. I really need quality content for my soul and not dramas that defy all logic. Also your opinion, I think dramas nowadays just use religion callously.. like it’s evident that they use the religious card for viewership and marketing and money and it’s just sad…

      2. I have a long rant bubbling inside of my on that whole religious card thing… I hope to rant it out this weekend.
