Drama Review | Ishq-e-Laa | Hum TV | Episode 17

A little recap from episode 16

Someone has paid Azka’s medical fee.

Ishq-e-Laa episode 17 written update and review

Neki karne ka apna hi maza hota hai.

Seekho nalayqon. Koi neki karo.

Kanwal and Azka are out shopping for the college. This track is generally on a happy track except that little glitch called Abid. Abid is still after Azka. Yaar jaldi se Azka Azlan ki shadi kyu nahin ho jati?

Arbab Haroon sends Sher Ali, the dude who was driving Shanaya’s murderer’s car. Azlan has recognized him and requests the police to arrest Sher Ali. Tch… Why should Sher Ali suffer for something that Arbab Haroon has done? Why should a poor man suffer for a rich man’s deed?

This episode introduces a new character Zain Ahmad played by Ahmad Taha Ghani. He looks soooo handsome, and he has such a niceeee voice. It rings like music when he talks. I think he is a singer. I mean… I have watched him song. There is also Humna Ali who befriends Azka. Iss tarah toh hota hai when heroine comes to heroine. It happened with Khirad in Humsafar, and with Aiman in Mere Humdum Mere Dost (or as my sister says: Mere Humdum Mere Abba Ke Dost).

So, what was I saying?

Yeah, so Zain likes Azka already. Now I recall that Taha was in the teasers. On another note, ab Azka ke teen umeedwar hain–Azlan, Abid, and Zain. Ek Azka Teen Beemar, haha.

Azlan runs into a baba. He seeks help to find the one who can to bring Shanaya back. Baba asks him to look inside him., but Azlan runs away.

Does anyone see resemblance of Bobby from Aye Musht-e-Khak in Azlan? The way he talks is the same, no? Doesn’t he talk like an atheist?

I get it. This drama is also about Azlan’s journey from a non-believer to a believer, his journey of finding self, his journey to find Haq. His  words don’t come across as crass and noticible as Bobby’s because A) The drama doesn’t focus entirely on atheism B) It has a better storyline apart from the whole believer-non-believer debate.

Now that I think about it, this drama does have several things  common with Aye Musht-e-Khak. Shanaya is a girl with firm belief in Allah, a girl who offers namaz without fail, a girl who recites Qur’an daily and also understands its tafseer. Azlan is a guy who is arrogant, a guy who is worldly successful, a guy who doesn’t pray. And the two of them were married. Much like Dua and Bobby. I still don’t understand how come Dua’s stance isn’t called takabbur, but Momin’s does.

Look at me, I am making a kichdi of Ishq-e-Laa, Dil-e-Momin and Musht-e-Khak. The three titles also have persian (-e-) in common 😉

thing is i feel azlaan wants to come closer to God but that he is just upset that when he prayed to God for shanaya’s life, qubool nahi kiya toh… yeah.. also is it just me or i badly want azka and zain to get together than azka and azlaan.. ahahah

    1. Yeah, I think Azlan’s denial doesn’t become the center stage because the overall story of IEL has some substance, unlike AMEK, if you know what I mean…

yup, agreed!! the messaging is not preachy yet they do say it. but the difference is, it is only part of the whole whole episode. through supporting/minor characters. not the main characters themselves and then the main character becomes too arrogant and it becomes repetitive.

also ahmad taha ghani is quite hot, i mean in parizaad he gave me uncle-ish vibes but over here he is like swagger. 10/10 he needs to play lead roles now

        1. totally… t-shirt mein dolay sholay bhi dikhara hai… usko ek rom-com mein aana chahiye. why is there a dearth of rom-coms in Pakistani drama industry?
