Could she out-play the player? Chess champ she may be, but a nervous nerd? No way.
When heart-breaker Nate targets her cousin as his next conquest, Ellie is determined to foil his schemes. Getting Nate to switch his attention to her seemed like a good plan, but she didn’t count on having to protect her own heart too.
Midnight meetings, fighting or kissing, it’s all part of the fun of flirting. Ellie soon discovers that boys are more complicated than classes, and you have to play the game well or you might just get played!
Fun and flirty young adult romantic comedy set in a British boarding school. Book one of eight.
Well… well… well… This book has a quite a few characters.
Ellie: The heroine
Nate: The hero
Flora: Ellie’s roommate
Alex: Ellie’s brother, Nate also knows him
Rose: Ellie’s cousin, Nate aims to lay her
Jake: Ellie’s elder brother
Sophie Jones: Jack’s wannabe girlfriend
Liam: Ellie’s supposed boyfriend
Gabriel, Jerry and Owen: Nate’s mates
It isn’t just about Nate and Ellie. There is an entangled mesh up of other characters flirting, as well. Ellie challenges Nate to date her and leave Rose alone. And that leads to a long flirting game that ends rather predictably.
With a bunch of characters and some of them defined enough to be more than secondary characters, it is safe to assume that the author is set to write a series. For instance, what happens to Flora and Gabriel? Does Jake and Sophie get together? What about Alex? Does he continue to be a lanky geek or get all muscular and handsome?
The book is serious, especially for YA. I like romantic comedies more than romance.
I am not denouncing the series. I may return to read more of this author. I have a feeling that I have read her before.
Anywho, off I go. See you in next post.
