A Little Recap

Aswad shouts at Mehreen, Mehreen cries, then she hallucinates about Mashal; and then the whole thing moves in a circle. Well… look at that, the recap fits past 3-4 episodes, don’t you think?

Hum Kahan Kay Sachhay Thay Episode 17 Written Update

This episode begins with Aswad shouting at Mehreen for no reason, and Mehreen listens to him for no reason. A girl who has topped the classes and won awards is now just taking this abuse as it comes. Her mental state can’t be a reason. She was off sound mind before marrying Aswad. She could have said no… She could put her foot down at any point now. But nahin ji, woh toh pati-warta ho gayi hai. Just because she loves Aswad, she is taking this shit from him. This drama is so regressive.

Anyways, so Saleha insists and takes Mehreen out for shopping. The shopping is done, and the duo heads to the food court. And guess who else is there? Aswad, with a female friend of his. How wonderful! But that isn’t enough. Mehreen runs into Sheeba and Safwan. The conversation is borderline awkward. While Mehreen is uncomfortable, Aswad watches them from a distance.

Rabeya is waiting for Mehreen. Rukhsana, the house help is telling her that Aswad doesn’t treat Mehreen well. Rabeya is still in a state of shock when Aswad comes home.

“Don’t come here to see Mehreen,” Aswad rudely says to Rabeya.

Say what now?

Rabeya is shell-shocked, and Laila Wasti plays her small scene with perfection. While she is stepping out, Saleha and Mehreen come home. Rabeya questions Saleha. It is not so much of a confrontation, it is just one concerned and helpless mother asking a question to another equally-concerned and almost-as-helpless mother. Saleha goes inside to talk to Aswad, while Rabeya speaks to Mehreen. This is one of the most touching scenes of this series so far. I don’t feel a thing when Mehreen cries, but when Rabeya is on screen, I just lose it.

“I couldn’t do anything for you before. I can’t do anything for you now. God shouldn’t make a mother so helpless,” Rabeya says to Mehreen.

Back inside the home, Saleha confronts Aswad. Yes, she is always the one who confronts. Their argument is quite interesting, until Aswad takes out the big guns.

“I’m not answerable to you,” Aswad says.

Why didn’t Saleha say the same to him? Is she answerable to her son?

Finally, we do see one little scene that reassures the viewers about Mashal’s suicide. Shagufta forces Shabbo to keep her mouth shut about Mehreen’s innocence. Shabbo agrees, because the threat is that either Shabbo or Mehreen will be blamed for Mashal’s death.

In the end, Aswad pressurizes Mehreen to sign an affidavit which effectively takes full responsbility of what happened to Mashal. No, that’s not the worse thing that happens in this episode. The worst thing is that Mehreen signs those papers…

Because she loves Aswad…

Save me…

I guess I am done with HKKST… Unless…

What to expect from episode 18

I hope this torture game ends now. It has gotten a bit too much. Tere Binnn… Tere Binnn…. Oh, that reminds me of my review of HKKST episode 18. I had so much fun writing it. Writing this review was such a chore for me. I didn’t like the episode, I didn’t want to post the review, but then… occupational hazards.

You can read the novel’s review? I will meet you in another review.
