Aap Ki Izzat Episode 3 Written Update and Review
Beena and Tabish Confrontation
So, Tabish pushes Beena, and then snaps. He pretends as if Beena is accusing him. Yells at Beena for no reason, blows things out of proporiton by saying Beena is blowing things out of proporiton (see what I did there). And then storms out of the room. Beena weeps, naqli ekdum. Urwa is gorgeous but she has very limited range when it comes to acting.
Maa Ji and Taabish
Tabish goes straight to Maa Ji’s room. Blaming everything on Beena, that he isn’t happy and peaceful with Beena. Maa Ji slumps. She isn’t happy about this, but doesn’t say much.
“Do whatever you do man,” is basically what she says, but she is still unhappy and worried.
“Keep it a secret,” Maa Ji says.
Beeno Packing
Beena is packing. She’s upset, thinks about her kids, Maa Ji but then Tabish’s words and the hurt comes back. She’s confused, in short. She recalls how Tabish used to apologize when they were newly married.
Beena and Maa Ji
The next morning, after namaz, Beena brings tea and wants to talk to Maa Ji. She wants to go and live with her mother once. Maa Ji still defends Tabish and scolds Beena for being na-shukri. Maa Ji knows everything about Naaz but outright denies everything.
Maa Ji: Mere sath aa ke tahajjud padha karo.
Beena: Rahungi toh phir bhi gunahgaar hi, aurat jo hoon.
Sania Saeed ke dupatte mein se baal dikh rahe thhe, namaz huyi nahin Maa Ji aapki.
Next Morning
Tabish gives some money to Maham (so she stays on her side?), doesn’t eat breakfast and leaves. Beena tells kids to be nice because she’s going to Nano’s house and they are excited for the “freedom”. Bechari Beena…
Aur kahan rehte hain yeh log?
Tabish and Gauhar
Tabish doesn’t want to announce the wedding. Gauhar is happy about this, and Fareeda and Naaz are not going to be happy, either.
Shabeena
Beena’s comes to see Shabeena (whose mother is also a typical saas and object to everything Shabeena says). I like how authentically Beena eats kadhi chawal with her hand.
And then Beena shares her predicament with Shabeena who tries to console Beena. But then comes the final revelation: the second marriage.
Shabeena: Tu mohabbbat ki zakaat nikaal de, mohabbat qurbani maangti hai. Naaz ko bardasht kar le.
Reinforcement
Back home, Maa Ji doesn’t know that Beena has really gone, despite her categorical refusal. She calls for reinforcement: Naziya and Shaziya. Maa Ji informs that Tabish has announced his decision, not asked for persmission, and that she did not want to take panga with her son. The mother-daughters don’t seem very disturbed by the “dusri shaadi” news, and… I don’t know what to feel about it.
Islam allows for four marriages but with caveats: do-do, teen-teen, chaar chaar karo lekin agar dar hai ki insaaf nahin kar sako ge to ek hi karo. (paraphrasing)
Kya Tabish insaaf karega? I don’t know.
Do I think he’s doing the right thing? Maybe. I can’t say he’s doing something wrong.
Do I still feel for Beena? Absolutely.
To be honest, one of them seems upset that Beena has left; the other one, not so much.
Gossip Sesh
Jameela tells other mulazims about Tabish and Beena, but they don’t believe Jameela. Later, she breaks the second wedding news.
Jameela: Haye, meri baji par sautan aa jayegi.
And that’s the episode.
