Aap Ki Izzat Episode 4 Written Update and Review
This is going to be long. A lot has happened in this episode, and the drama has picked up pace. I really liked this one and have a lot to say, at least for now. If I get tired of typing on this stupid phone that tries to autocorrect the words it shouldn’t, and leaves the words as-is when it should autocorrect…
The Return Journey
Beena feels suffocated when she comes back home, Shabeena’s words ringing in her head, but she is determined, to give it a try, to not lose everything just like that. And to think that she doesn’t even know about the second marriage yet; just Tabish flirting with Naaz has hurt her so much that she’s willing to leave the house. Will she leave the house when she “does” learn about the second marriage?
She washes up and that’s when her phone rings: Maa Ji calling her.
Maa Ji: Why did you go to your mother’s house when I told you not to?
Beena: Main toh apne kamre mein hoon.
Side Note
I felt that when Umera started writing Kafeel, she had two choices on how to take Zeba’s story forward: take khula and separate or just stay with Jami. Zeba chose the latter, although too late in life. Now, the alternative is that the wife chooses to stay with the husband and Beena chooses that. I don’t know what future story is, there’s probably an intentional affair with Behraam etc, but at this point, I felt that Umera wanted to write about both choices.
The Women
So, Beena then she comes to Maa Ji’s room, tells half-truths, that she went to meet Shabeena for lunch. Maa Ji is relieved but she wouldn’t admit as much.
Maa Ji: why do you go back to that mohalla?
Beena: Hum bhi wahin se aaye hain, bahot waqt guzara hai wahan.
Maa Ji doesn’t criticize Beena much in this scene, because she feels guilty somewhere.
Maa Ji and Daughters
Naziya, Shaziya and Maa ji discuss the situation again. One of them (the one in pink) speaks favourably of Beena (I have assumed her to be Naziya), while the other one (the one in black) is kinda giving typical nand vibe (she becomes Shaziya for me). Maa Ji is clearly not happy but she’s so scared of…poverty I guess? that she doesn’t want to upset Tabish. AT ALL.
Tabish and Maa Ji
When Tabish comes home, Maa Ji tells him that she made a boo boo and that Beena is home. Tabish seems unperturbed (remember his outburst when he learns that Beena has left the house). When Maa Ji tells about Naziya, Shaziya and that they know of the second wedding, that’s when he gets upset. So upset, that even though Maa Ji tries to “plead” him by holding his hand, he lets go and leaves the room.
Beena and Maa Ji
Maa Ji blames Beena for being upset:
Teri wajah se mujh se naraz ho gaya.
Maa Ji then asks Beena to apologize to Tabish because it’s woman’s job to bend, melt and break, right?
Per chhu lena uss ke, waise hi woh mujh se bhi maafi maangta hai.
Beena and Jameela
Beena asks Jameela about Nasreen, the mulazamaa who ran away. She isn’t coming back, has asked her husband for a divorce. Jameela says some profound things about woman. And we can see the wheels turning in Beena’s head.
Tabish and Beena
Beena comes to touch Tabish’s feet, and a flashback shows a similar scene in the past, when Tabish wouldn’t even let Beena polish his shoes. Aur ab woh joota la ke uss ke saamne rakhti hai (happened in last episode).
Tabish and the Wedding Discussions
Naaz ke naam koi ghar kar dein. Aur hum sirf diamond aur gold pehente hain.
This is what Fareeda has to say to Tabish. I won’t say that about Naaz but Fareeda and Gauhar are sure after Tabish’s money.
Beena and Maulvi Saab
Beena meets Maulvi Saab with a question.
Beena: Maulvi Saab, agar koi gunah karna chahta ho aur taubah pehle hi kar lena chahta ho toh taubah qubool ho jayegi?
Maulvi Saab: Gunah kya hai?
Haye! Kya woh bewafayi karne ka thhan chuki hai? By the way, from whatever little I know, taubah qubool nahin hogi. Gunah ka iraada karne se gunah nahin hoti lekin iraada kar ke taubah kar ke gunah karne se kaise taubah qubool hogi bey?
