PS: I’m not happy with the screenshot but it was the best I could do. I haven’t brought my headphones here (I’m in Pune) and can’t watch the usual way (on my android phone) so had to watch on laptop and it wasn’t behaving nicely.

A new drama by Umera Ahmed. That’s all I want to say.

Dar-e-Nijaat Episode 2 Written Update And Review

So, the episode begins where the last one ended:

The Parents

Zamil and Zaryab’s parents meet, discuss their future; Her parents want to announce something, his parents don’t mind; her father asks Zamil to improve her grades and not let Zaryab drop Harvard for Zamil, Nafeesa agrees. Itna agreeable samdhi nahin dekhe bhai.

The Relationship triangle

Kishwar Jahan: I like him so much. Mera bas chale to tumhari shaadi iss se karwa doon.
Zamil makes a fuss about parking space in Zaryab’s house. I mean… talk about priviledge, this is another level. Matlab kisi aur ke ghar mein bhi meri parking ki fixed jagah honi hai. Z and Z openly mock Abu Bakr who smiles mildly. Abu Bakr is shown to be so mildly mannered, he’s kinda my role model now: always soft-spoken, always polite.
Abu Bakr is reciting Surah Kahf in the lounge, which I think is a good touch to remind the viewers that Jumua hai, toh Surah Kahf padhni hai. Z takes it upon herself to kick Abu Bakr out of the house because they have dance practice and that’s obviously more important.
When Kishwar Jahan learns about this, she turns off the music and scolds Zaryab.

Zaryab blows things out of proportion. She marches to Shamsa, who’s on call, and forces her to confront Dadi about scolding, correction, “insulting me in front of my friend”. Shamsa agrees. Whaaaat?

Off-topic

I am curious about Khushbakht, her frequent sad face tells us of a not-so-happy past, perhaps she ran away from her house? While talking to Kishwar Jahan, she says: Gunahon ki maafi mil jaye, wahi bahot hai. Ajar ki baari kahan aani hai.

Or something like that, which is something I frequently feel, so related very hard with her.

Review

I’m going to just go ahead and say it. This is one of those dramas that I don’t want to review, I just want to watch, enjoy, notice a few things, make note of some other things, and just be done.

I watched the teaser today, and the scenes just grabbed me by neck and said: you better watch the whole drama. I’m going to try and do some kinda recap and review but I’d just be focussing more on the story and less on posting about it.

Durre has some lost weight, which suits her. I still want to punch her in the face for no reason at all, but she’s doing justice to this role. As for Shahryar Munawwar, he’s gorgeous as ever, and he’s perfect for Abu Bakr.

The remaining cast has some big names, some really gorgeous people, styled so aptly for the story.

Also, the OST, Ali Zafar’s soothing voice… Ufff!
