Doctor Bahu | Episode 13

Dr. Bahu explores the theme of quiet control hidden behind progressive appearances. In a respected family of doctors, their youngest non-doctor son is married to a doctor—adding another accomplished daughter-in-law to a household where women are not allowed to work.

When the youngest daughter-in-law enters this world, she begins to challenge the unspoken rules, subtly shifting power and exposing buried hypocrisies.

Doctor Bahu Episode 13 Written Update and Review

In last episode, Dr Rubina said shitty things about Dr Shahnawaz in front of while staff. In this episode, she judged Sania because Sania had to relent and agreed to work with Dr Shahnawaz. Aunty sounded progressive in the introductory episode but now just sounds unnecessarily bitter.

Anywho, Salman’s app has broken all subscription records in Pakistan which is kinda big deal. Sania is happy, Farheen is happy but Shahnawaz is like: “nice”. Bada hi koi jalkukda abba hai bhai. Woh kya kehte hain? Aisa abba kidhar labba? Something like that. The teams in here and in Islamabad both celebrate. And Salman learns over the video call that Faryal has joined Saquib’s team in Islamabad. He isn’t not too thrilled about it but promises Saquib to talk about it in person.

This eoisode is just about showing their privilege, in short saas and sasur both pressurizing Sania into doing something she doesn’t want: plan a dinner at home. Because they got doctor bahus for this very purpose. Sania wants to attend the interview (to work at her sasur’s hospital where she is preselected). At home, Farheen tells Sania that she doesn’t want Sania to go to the hospital. At hospital, Shahnawaz tells Sania to go home and prepare for the dinner. Both play their power card.

Shahnawaz: shaadi ke baad apni main ko marna hota hai.

First of all, sound like coming straight from “Main”, another drama of his. Second of all, yeh main marne wali baat shauhar ke liye hoti hogi na? Ya sasur ke liye. Rolling my eyes so hard, it hurts, literally, because of dry eyes syndrome.

Faizan meets Ambar’s father (who has remarried himself) who doesn’t want Faizan to “fool” Ambar anymore. Later, Ambar meets Faizan, but she’s also singing the same tune: bas ab shaadi karo mujh se. Tum mujhe poore chahiye ho.

Bahen, if he can’t leave Mina, poora toh nahin hua. Instead of social approval, you’ll get social backlash more. A mufti in my town remarried recently. Him and his new wife is facing backlash from all corners. Some might say that second nikaah mard ka haq hota hai. And I agree to that in principle, but if I tell you the story of how they got married, you will say that mufti ne ghalat kiya hai.

I digress. Where was I?

Anywho, there’s a other tu tu main main between Mina and Sania. Mina tells Sania: Salman ko le kar alag ho jao. This was alluded to in one of the previous episodes when Dr Shahnawaz said: Mera ghar meri marzi. Will this couple actually move out? Don’t think so.

Parting Thought: don’t like how this drama is going. The only good thing was cyber complaint against Asad and phupho’s bald avatar.
