Dr Shahnawaz and Saniya: Another Confrontation

Just as we had expected, Dr Shahnawaz has decided to save his name and let someone else take the hit for his own corruptions. In this episode, Dr Saad is taken to the Anti Corruption Unit for interrogation. Saniya calls Asad’s phone, and someone from the ATC picks up the call (that guy has been playing a cop in EVERY PAKISTANI DRAMA EVER and I still don’t know his name). Saniya gets to work, to clear Saad’s name, and goes to talk to Dr Shahnawaz.

Dr Shahnawaz: This time, you will be punished.

Saniya: Punish me, keep my family out of it.

Dr Shahnawaz: Chal bhag.

I have noticed that Saniya has never once won the verbal spat. Not once, not with Dr Shahnawaz, not with Dr Farheen. She speaks her mind, sure, but the people she’s dealing with have far more power in their hands to dismiss her. And in moments like this, I relate to her, relate to her so hard, it’s embarassing. I mean, I don’t like her as a female lead; I have my issues with her, but when she’s brushed aside as if her entire being is worthless, I have a problem with those people.

Side note: In the past seven months, work has been coming to me like blizzard while others work on the same “module” for year-and-and-a-half and then some. Whenever I suggest better and more logical alternatives, I hear the same thing: “you’re the senior, and we’d feel more comfortable if you were working on it”. Which is a loose translation of: “we’d be happy to see you toil your way to finish two months’ work in two weeks and then call you names and say your work is shitty and deserves no appreciation.”

Saad’s Arrest

Eversince he has learned that Dr Shahnawaz was indeed corrupt and Saniya was right; Dr Saad has become a different person altogether. He calmly deals with the situation, and cooperates with the cops. Sumaira loses her temper again and starts to blame Saniya for everything. This is where my problem begins. The characters of this drama move in circles. Once a conflict is resolved, how can we have the same conflict. It’s just boring, isn’t it? Moving in circles…

Salman’s Business Trip

Speaking of moving in circles, Salman and Saniya argue again. As always, I blame Salman because he’s one priviledged guy who demands his wife to give up on everything, EVERYTHING, just because he said so. Saniya’s exasperated expression said it all. Probably one of those rare moments where I felt Kubra acted well. Again, not a Saniya fan, but Salman is just being an a**hole.

And Salman does go on that trip even though Saniya repeatedly asks him not to.

The Trio

Ambar and Faizan have had a baby daughter, and they’re happy. Faizan calls Salman, they do gila-shikwa of not being in touch, but it ends on a sweet note. Good to see that the brothers have finally started acting like brothers.

Mina, who has convinced herself that she has moved on, can’t bear the pain of Ambar and Faizan leading a perfect life. She calls Saniya for solace, and Saniya does help, in whatever way she could, to console over phone.

Performance of the episode goes to Hajra, as always. Shahzad Nawaz isn’t much far behind with his villainous portrayal of Dr Shahnawaz.
