Doctor Bahu Episode 34 Written Update and Review
Corruption Charges
Saniya’s still on a mission, to clear Saad’s name, to not let someone else suffer just because she was married into a wrong family. She makes calls, pleads to people and finally gets Tauseef’s address. Tauseef is philosophical as usual, and suggests that he’d share the documents with Saniya later because he kept them with someone else should something happen to him.
As Saniya walks back, we know she’s going to be hospitalized soon.
And she does. Both her and the baby are critical. Several medical terms are thrown around (scary as shit). Salman learns about this and packs his bags back. He should have been there with Saniya, but… I guess better late than never. Salman also calls Faizan, asks if he can count on him to take a stand in the corruption case. “You can always count on me,” Faizan says.
Awnnn! Good to see them brothers being brothers.
Hospital
And then begins the difficult part of the episode.
Saniya is being operated on, the baby is taken to NICU, the family sits there, praying, flustered. Salman runs here and there, panicking, thinking of ways he can help (there are none) and finally resorting to dua: Allah, Saniya ko bacha le, meri kinhi nekiyon ke badle. Don’t we all resort to such bargains when life gets tough?
I liked Atiqa Odho’s constrained portrayal of Dr Rubina. She is a humanbeing, and Saniya was a colleague, but she’s also a doctor-pragmatic, practical, and she tells Salman to be prepared for the worst (as if he is not already).
Faizan comes to support Salman, and the way Salman breaks down is just… I don’t have words.
Shuja Haidar acted his ass off in this episode. The way he wept, the way he spoke to Waqas’s mother between sobs (also props to Waqas for acting like he does understand the gravity of the situation even on phone) and begs for duas. Tough to watch, especially seeing the baby in that glass compartment, crying. I have more things to say on this whole scene, but I’ll post that separately as side note.
This is the second last episode, so there is hope after all.
