Okay first thing first there should be a trigger warning for this episode if you are faint hurted you should watch this episode at your discretion or should not watch it at all. That that been set this was a perfect finale for almost perfect crime series of whodunit which ended in 15 episodes only. 15 episodes ONLY. Other channels, makers, writers etc should take some notes. Roshni, Rane, Junaid and the guard: they all were cold-blooded murderers but Junaid was like a qasai, no remorse, no shame, no nothing. And they mercilessly killed an innocent person while their problem was with Sikandar Khan. Too difficult to digest and sounds grossly unfair but when is real life fair? A few weeks ago, I heard about a murder in open Friday market (the most crowded day of the week). Then I googled the news, without photos, and learned that one ex-husband killed his wife because she sought divorce and their divorce was finalized by court. Yes, take that and wait for your breathing to become normal again.

After the full khulasa of who did what and how things happened on that day, we see a police conference where the boss takes all credit and says one line of praise for the hard-working team. This drove home the point I have been highlighting all along: shitty bosses are always there, no matter where you work.

I loved, loved, loved how this drama tied all loose ends.

Sajid and Mehmal thing was already closed in last episode, right? And Owais had given his wife and brother-in-law a shutup call. Now, we tackle the remaining threads.

In this episode Owais confesses to Sajid that one wrong judgement of his (not arresting a guy with a gun) has caused death of a 18-year-old only son of a mother. Sajid warns about the responsibility of being a cop.

Sohrab tells Maryam that his mother is coming to Karachi to meet Maryam. Just wow on how beautifully the scene was shot: romance without being yucky.

Sajid meets Sikandar Khan, explains things. Sikandar seems remorseful. Sajid asks Sikandar Khan: do you know Saba Qamar?

This was a running gag throughout the series that Sajid asks the question to anyone from showbiz and the answer is always uncertain which tells us that those people lied about knowing Saba Qamar. Only this time, Sikandar Khan says confidently, and reveals his next project is with Saba herself. Sajid promises to visit the set some day. What a small subplot and how it was tied together at the end. Just loved it. And it’s not like Sikandar Khan is a completely changed man now. He still does care about his following.

And then there’s Naina’s family finally accepting Naina’s fate and grieving together. Tear-jerker for sure. Itna koi dil se roye na Naina ke abba.

Finally, we see Sajid taking care of his wife (which was usually the other way around). Sajid asks if Shaziya (I can’t recall her name for the life of me) knows poetry. She says something, which wasn’t bad bad because it had thought and rhyme, but it wasn’t good. Certainly not. Sajid added his own fil-badeeh verse on that. Shaziya promised to buy poetry books. How lovely!

And this was all of 15 episodes. The scenes were crisp, the performances were on-point, I see no loophole, there were plenty of flashbacks but only to serve a purpose and not fill the entire episode with flashback and double the runtime. Contrast that to other dramas, especially ARY dramas that should end around 28-30 episodes marks but go on to do at least 34-40 because they show slomo, pretty leads weeping for hours, passing shots, flashbacks etc. if you guess the dramas that I have in mind when I write this, tell me. I have an extra copy of Aab e Hayat and Peer e Kaamil I want to give away (only if you’re in my country).
