Muamma Episode 35 Written Update and Review

Gather ’round. It’s the finale, people!

Closing Time

Jahan Aara meets Sajal, tells her about Rukhsana. Sajal is not too thrilled to see the ugly nature behind Jahan Aara’s beautiful face. But she does agree to give Naveed another chance.

When Jahan Ara steps out of Sajal’s house, a van follows her and throws her in the van. Now, Jahan Ara is abducted.

Parda Faash

At home Ashiq Hussain has come back to talk to Asiya, to try to convince her for remarrying him. She categorically refuses. Ashiq Hussain tries to say shitty things about Jahan Aara and Asiya reveals what Jahan Aara has done for Shahjahan.

Convenience being the plot device here, this discussion is happening by the gate, out on the open. Shahjahan overhears. Pehle toh woh Ashiq Hussain ko bhagata hai, which I liked. Then he question Asiya, obviously

Shahjahan: Tell me what you told him.
Asiya: nothing…
Shahjahan: I’ve heard everything. Now tell me.

Bhai jab sun liya toh phir se puchh kyu raha hai?

Anywho, now he knows what Jahan Aara did and what Ayeza did.

The Sautan

Jahan Aara is kidnapped by Sarmad (obvio) and his intentions are also obvious. Zulekha’s timely call saves Jahan Aara, though. Zulekha  knows where Sarmad is, who he’s with and what his intentions are. I like such characters. They come into the plot just for the wins.

4 Months Later

Because of course there’s a time jump. We see Jahan Aara at a bakery, placing a cake in the shelf. In that scene, Saba Qamar looks so different. She looks like Saba Qamar, and not Jahan Aara.

One day, she gets a call from Shahnaz. The mother isn’t too thrilled about how she treated Jahan Aara.

آپ نے وہ کیا جو آپ کی قسمت میں لکھا تھا اور میں وہ جی رہی ہوں جو میرا نصیب ہے، مجھے آپ سے کوئی شکایت نہیں ہے۔

If only we all learn this golden rule and apply it on our lives. By the way, did anyone else feel that Asma Abbas kinda hammed in this role. I love her in other roles, but in this role, every time she was there, I was like: Aapa, what are you doing?

Khel Khatam

The mother-daughter decide to meet. The way Sarfaraz confronts Shahnaz before she leaves the house, we know what’s about to happen.

And it happens.

Called it, didn’t I?

Sarmad sees Zulekha stepping out of Shamsher’s room. He confronts Zulekha and threatens to tell Alamgir (as if he doesn’t know already).

And then she plays the last winning move.

Khel khatam, paisa hazam.

As I prepare to watch another drama, i can’t help but think: Shahjahan ki qismat mein mehbooba ki maut hi likhi hai. Tch.

Performances

Maria Wasti is given role of a winner, so she won. Syed jibran also did a fine job of playing Sarmad Jehanzeb. The tenants were all good in their parts, Nabeel, Ali, Anoushay. Nimra as Asiya was instrumental in the plot, and she carried it very well with her “Jiji”.

The girl who played Sajal was perfect for her role, pretty, soft, and soft spoken. I love her eyes . Ahin Babar gave a very Ranveer Singh vibe from Gully Boy. Would like to see more of them.

This was, however, a Saba Qamar drama throughout. At times, the boundaries blurred and I felt I am watching Saba and Jahan Aara. Nice performances, but the storyline wasn’t consistently impressive. I felt that the ending was a bit rushed. Baqi kisi ka kuch bataya hi nahin.

But hey, it didn’t drag too long.

Chalo, Juma Mubarak (it’s officially Juma, bas subah hone ko hai).
