Let’s review the latest episode of Qissa Meherbano Ka. It’s based on Fakhra Jabeen’s short story Ujalon Ki Basti. You can read the story here, and my review is here. The drama is quite different from the story itself, so don’t be disheartened by my review even if it has some spoilers.
A little recap of episode 15
So, Fari goes back to her brother’s house. Her bhabhi is seemingly very supportive. Mehrbano is staying in the house only for Ayaz’s sake. Mehran decides to get married to Mariam to end the constant bickering of Zehreeli chachi.
Qissa Meherbano Ka Episode 16 Written Review
This episode starts as Noor finds Mehrbano in the bathroom in a disturbing state. Mehrbano is sitting in the bathroom under the running shower beaten black and blue. I had hoped that this aspect of story was changed for screen adaptation. In the story Ujalon Ki Basti, Munni Khala’s husband Athar is shown to be physically abusive. Murad is just the same. I don’t like it. This should have been kept to the written version.
Why the hell is she still living in that house? Will Ayaz ever learn just how much Mehrbano is suffering for him?
Mehran sees a few guys fixing and renovating Mehrbano’s house. Mehran talks to them, and says that he should be the first preference should Murad decides to sell the house. Our cool hero calls Noor to inform her about the progress.
Achhe Miyan is back to torture Mehrbano. Mehrbano tells Murad that she doesn’t like it. Mehrbano fears that Achhe Miyan would do something to Noor.
Mehran is getting engaged, and Zehreeli chachi invites Murad and Mehrbano. To my surprise, Murad not only agrees to go but also takes Mehrbano with him. Mawra looks haseen in that bright red saree.
The second best scene of this episode is the bickering between Noor and Khadoos aunty. I like Noor.
And now for the best scene, the coversation between Ayaz and Noor… So cute.
Performances
Mawra has performed exceedingly well. I still have goosebumps. It would be unfair to not mention Areej here. Her devastated reaction makes us empathize for her. Well done, Areej, and well done Mawra.
What to expect from episode 17?
Mehran’s engagement party will the start of some new phadda, I’m sure.
