I know, I know… It has been almost a year since Raqs-e-Bismil started to air. The question is, why now? Well… there are three reasons that I’m watching the drama now. And there is only one reason I didn’t watch it earlier. Let’s get to both.
Raqs-e-Bismil is a Pakistani television series premiered on Hum TV from 25 December 2020 to 9 July 2021. It is directed by acclaim film director Wajahat Rauf and produced by Shazia Wajahat under Showcase Productions. It features Imran Ashraf and Sarah Khan in leads.
My sole reason to not-watch the drama when it started
The teaser didn’t entice me enough. It came across as a dark and serious drama, something that I avoid if I know beforehand. I like rom-coms and romance. This one promised to have some romance, but the premise just wasn’t good enough
My reasons to watch the drama
1: Hashim Nadeem’s writing
Parizaad is one of the most intriguing and engaging drama at present.
2: The current lot doesn’t have the kind of romance I like. I hope that Raqs-e-Bismil has the intense romance that you can feel. The current lot isn’t as engaging either. If they are, I have to wait for a week to watch the next episode.
3: Imran Ashraf
Imran Ashraf brings the characters to life in a way that you start to fall in love with his story. Whether it is Adam from Mushk or Bhola from Ranjha Ranjha Kardi, he wins our heart every time.
4: The title itself: Raqs-e-Bismil
Ram Prasad Bismil used to dance a lot. His dance is called Raqs-e-Bismil… Just kidding… Raqs-e-Bismil means Dance of the Wounded. The title itself is so poetic. I can expect this drama to have one of the finest written dialogues.
5: Binging is fun.
