Pehli Barish Episode 1 Written Update and Review
Why This Drama
The drama has apparently added, but it was a recommendation. It has some of my favourite names. While watching an episode or two per week is a better model for reviewing, I don’t mind binging all of it at once. On side note: I’ve realized that I do many GEO dramas after some episodes are on. It happened with Tere Bin, and look what a phenomenon it became. Tere Bin brought the most AdSense money to me in the life of my little blog 😀
Geo’s production value is always high, like paise paani ki tarah bahaya hai types vibes, which also adds to a nice viewing experience.
The Love Triangle
The episode starts with a romantic scene enactment between Nawal and Maani. Maani isn’t serious, because he doesn’t see Nawal through romantic lense (and apparently he is not a good enough actor to pull it off). Nawal loses her mind, and at that moment, in walks Nimra. Seeing her, Maani mouths the romantic lines, even what was not written. The lines were not spoken for Nawal (or the character she’s playing in the drama within drama), and Maani admits as such, upsetting Nawal.
“I’ll tell Behzad uncle,” she threatens.
Nimra is consoling Nawal about Maani when the hero comes there. He’s a good friend, but he has eyes for Nimra, and she clearly likes him back. And Nawal is too dumb to see this.
The Broken Family
Daniya, Behzad’s cousin and ex-wife has come to see Maani, who is cold, and almost rude. As I mentioned in Cast post, Dania gave a very Zara vibe from Amarbel, even though she had only one scene.
Behzad and Maani share a very friendly relationship which is kinda sweet but also makes me think: Aisa kabhi hota hai kya?
Later that night, when Behzad is alone, and the rain starts. And that barish cuts to flashback.
Flashback
We see Behzad running into Maleeha and fall for her, not a fan of love at first sight, but the scene was shot well. Also, Behzad is very “advance”. He grabbed her hand in the first meeting, and openly flirted.
Aur woh aur tum nahin shayad
Mujh ko jis aur se mohabbat hai
At a mehendi function, they run into each other again. Some chit chat, some flirting:
Yun kis tarah katega kaRi dhoop ka safar
Sar pe khayal-e-yaar ki chadar hi le chalein
And the scene cuts back to present day where Behzad repeats those words and clearly shows regrets. Why could he not marry Maleeha? I’m curious.
Review
Aijaz Aslam looks so handsome, so fit. I mean, not taking anything from Behroz, he’s a dashing dude, but Aijaz Aslam in that black polo, grey trousers and glasses win the competition if there was one. Samiya Mumtaz is gorgeous and talented as ever. She, Hajra Yamin and Shamim Hilaly can never disappoint. Their characters can, they can’t. Kudos to Behroz as well, he has grown so much as an actor. When he sees Nimra, it feels like he really is in love with that face…I mean, person. Saboor is also nice. Mujhe woh bahot naqli lagti hai, so I may not always be praising her.
