Sirf Shabana | Episode 19

Sirf Shabana presents the story of an educated, independent yet deeply sensitive young woman who longs for a simple but powerful right: to have her own name stand alone, without being defined by a father or a husband. Her journey unfolds as a courageous fight against societal norms, legal barriers, and emotional struggles, as she strives to claim an identity that truly belongs to her.

Sirf Shabana Episode 19 Written Update and Review

Bilal and Jamal

So, Bilal leaves Jamal’s house with a note; we’d have been disappointed if he hadn’t. There’s a limit of being nice, Bilal is done being nice.

The watchmen at the apartment building helps Bilal to not only find a new place to live but also a job. Jahanzeb runs a catering business and he hires Bilal as a server for one of the events. He orders a lot of cakes from Shabana’s bakery, thanks to Rabiya, the influencer girl.

No prizes for guessing what this event is going to be. Ahem!

Yumna and Salaar

Why is Salaar not in jail?
I don’t know why Yumna came back to her house. I don’t know why she’s still living with him. Even if she kicks him out and asks to stay at the annexe of the house, it’s just… Domestic violence, police and doctors involved, that whole shebang of reconciling with her brother. And to make things worse, Salaar still tries to manipulate her. It doesn’t work, of course, but their scenes were so cringe, so difficult to watch; there were two. Even though I tried to skip through it, I watched enough to trigger me.

Shabana and Kabeer

It’s the engagement party. Cakes are being served from Shabana’s bakery (she doesn’t know, of course), and Bilal is one of the servere (Shabana doesn’t know, of course).

Bilal sees Shabana way before she sees him. He’s heartbroken, of course, do much that he can’t even work his first day at a new job. That Jahanzeb dude was very kind and understanding, I must say, especially understanding why Bilal is weeping uncontrollably.

And then a long sequence happens.

  • The catering team brings cakes for the bride and groom
  • Shabana it’s a cake and instantly knows that this is from her bakery she cannot link it to Bilal whome she has already seen
  • Shabana’s khala khalu are also invited. Khalu was alright but khala wore just the most generic ghar ke kapde, which made me laugh.
  • Tauqeer doesn’t sjale hands with khalu. I’m forgetting his name…what was it, Safeer?
  • Yumna comes to congratulation the couple, gets a call from her house help that Salaar is on the way. She fails to stop him as expected, from creating a scene
  • Salaar instantly recognises Bilal which felt off to me, says shitty things about Shabana (this has happened before).
  • Bilal hits Salaar, creates a bigger scuffle.
  • Tauqeer walks out of the party.
  • Kabeer throws Salaar out of the house and to Shabana he says, “are you coming or you want to stay here?” DAFUQ dude? You love her and you can doubt her and humiliate her and expect her to love you back?

Kabeer, Tauqeer and Dadi

Dadi: maazi se bahar nikal aao Tauqeer

Tauqeer: bahar hi hoon amma. Farq sirf itna hai ki maine apne maazi se kuch seekha hai.

Dadi: Jo sabaq seekhte hain woh aage badh jate hain.

Waah, bhai waah! Dadi, mukarrar irshad. Aisi acchi baat shayad aap ne 19 episodes mein pehli baar kahi hai.

Review

Incidentally, what I wrote about episode 18 applies here, again. So I’m going to reiterate myself.

Kabeer is a walking talking near-red flag. He is handsome and rich and is very very caring but he has flaws, big ones. Bilal lacked the courage to stand up for Shabana when she needed and Kabeer standup for Shabana but then the way he treats Shabana afterwards is not so nice.

I still ship Bilal and Shabana. Kabeer is bleh, and I really really really really hope Shabana sees that and marries Bilal. Abhi sorf engagement hi huyi hai.

I liked how Bilal always handled things. He doesn’t get hyper, doesn’t throw tantrums, almost as if he knows he has no right to. He just leaves Jamal’s house without a word of complaint about his bhabhi and her extremely untoward attitude, and even gives his blessings to Jamal, which Jamal clearly needs. Jamal’s defeated expression was also one of the highlights of the episode. Also, remember the episode where Rabiya refuses to pay for the cake and Bilal was kinda forced to let it go. See how it turned around and helped him. Although, one might argue ki “real life mein aisa hota hai kya”, if the intent was to show “what goes around, comes around”, it worked. I might be reading too much into this.

I don’t know if I have said this before but Bilal/Dorab has a child-like quality, especially the way his eyes twinkle when he’s happy. In this episode, when he said, “Rabiya? I know her”. The smile on his face, precious.

And that’s the episode. How did y’all like it?
