Daily Prompts | 10 things I know to be absolutely certain

Assalam Alaikum, my dear readers! Shabana Mukhtar here, with a daily prompt, no less.

I have been meaning to do this for about a couple of months. I wanted to unravel my humourous side for these daily prompts, you know, to test my writing brain and to form a habit of writing daily.

When I finally get to do this, the topic demands a serious post. So, ready to delve into a topic that is at the core of our spirituality and belief system. Today, I want to share with you 10 things that I know to be absolutely certain, rooted in my faith and understanding of Islam.

1. Allah

The first and foremost certainty is the existence of Allah, the One and Only God. Our faith teaches us that Allah is the creator of the universe, the sustainer of all things, and the ultimate source of guidance and mercy. This belief forms the foundation of our spirituality and shapes our relationship with the world around us.

2. Qayamat (The Day of Judgment)

Islam teaches us that there will be a day when all human beings will be held accountable for their actions. This belief in the Day of Judgment reminds us of the importance of leading a righteous life and striving to fulfill our responsibilities towards Allah and His creation.

3. Death

Death is an undeniable reality that awaits every living soul. It is a reminder of the impermanence of this worldly life and the inevitability of our return to Allah. Recognizing the certainty of death encourages us to make the most of our time on Earth and to prepare for the eternal life that awaits us beyond this realm.

4. Prophethood

Islam affirms the presence of Prophets who were sent by Allah to guide and convey His message to humanity. We believe in the Prophethood of figures such as Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and the preceding Prophets, whose teachings and examples serve as beacons of light for us to follow.

5. Divine Revelation

The Qur’an, the holy book of Islam, is a tangible and timeless source of guidance for all believers. It is considered the word of Allah, revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) through the Angel Gabriel. The Qur’an serves as a roadmap for our spiritual journey, providing wisdom, solace, and instructions for leading a righteous life.

6. Mercy and Forgiveness

Islam teaches us about the boundless mercy and forgiveness of Allah. We have the assurance that no matter how great our sins may be, sincere repentance and seeking Allah’s forgiveness can lead to redemption. This belief instills hope, encourages personal growth, and motivates us to seek Allah’s pleasure.

7. Trials and Tests

Life is filled with tests and trials, as Allah mentions in the Qur’an. These challenges are an inherent part of our journey and are meant to shape our character, strengthen our faith, and increase our reliance on Allah. With every difficulty comes the opportunity for growth and a chance to draw closer to our Creator.

8. Individual Accountability

Islam emphasizes personal responsibility and accountability. Each person is responsible for their own actions, intentions, and choices. We will be answerable for our deeds on the Day of Judgment, which motivates us to strive for righteousness and to constantly evaluate our actions in light of Islamic teachings.

9. Compassion and Justice

Islam places a great emphasis on compassion, justice, and treating others with kindness and fairness. Our faith teaches us to be just and merciful in our dealings with others, regardless of their background, beliefs, or circumstances. It is through acts of compassion and justice that we reflect the beauty of Islam to the world.

10. Divine Decree

Islam affirms the concept of divine decree, known as Qadr. We believe that everything that happens in this world is by the will of Allah. While we have free will to make choices, ultimately, Allah’s divine plan and decree are at play. This belief brings comfort in times of uncertainty and reassures us that everything happens for a reason.

These 10 certainties form the bedrock of our faith as Muslims, guiding our understanding of the world and our purpose in it. They remind us of the fleeting nature of this life and the eternal rewards that await those who strive for righteousness and seek closeness to Allah. As we reflect on these certainties, let us strive to deepen our knowledge, strengthen our faith, and embody the principles of Islam in our daily lives. May Allah guide us all on the path of truth and grant us steadfastness in our spiritual journey. Ameen.

Until next time, my dear readers, keep seeking knowledge, embracing your faith, and spreading love and compassion in the world.
