2019 As a Reader

I didn’t read as much this year. My ranking on Goodreads has dropped, even though I am still part of top 50. I no longer retain the #1 top reviewer. Not that it matters to me. It did, in 2018.

I completed my reading challenge of 150 books. That’s a big number but I read and read (past tense) more short stories.

Reading is only one part of being a bibliophile. There are reviews, discussions and more. I will post that separately.

There are some books that touched me in the most unique manner and some that didn’t even matter.

Alif By Umera Ahmed and Haalim By Nemrah Ahmed were two books that I had expectations from. Both books finished this year and Alif has become quite a phenomenon as it was also adapted as a drama. It is currently airing on HAR PAL GEO and 13 episodes are live.

There are two books that stood out, even though I had not any expectations.

“Me Before You” by Jojo Moyes

Book Review: Big Little Lies (by Liane Moriarty)

I did marathon same-author read. It didn’t work as well as I had hoped. It got repetitive and boring. I haven’t read those author since and would therefore not mention those names here.

Overall, it was a satisfying year as a reader.

How about you?
