This is the second week post vacation and life has returned to the old track – boring, tiring and irritating routine track.

I am on on-call support this week, that means leaving the house at 8:30 AM sharp, and returning by or after 8:30 PM.

Being on-call constantly keeps me on my toes. I don’t like sitting at my desk for long hours. I get back pain if I do. If I step away from the desk and there is some production issue, the service desk folks make a big fuss about unavailability of on-call person. It takes a lot of patience to work ten hours a day glued to your desk.

It will be over in a few hours. This was my last schedule for the year. Newer people are assigned to this job. My next turn will come in 2020. Who knows if I survive until then? I might be dead, or have left the organization by then. It is a long shot, but a girl’s gotta dream.
