The curfew ended on Sunday. I didn’t go out. I like staying home.
But yesterday was different. I had only 20 rupees in my wallet, and no vegetables, and other supplies had diminished in past 4 days. So, I had to leave the self-quarantine mode.
The roads were deserted and the shops were shut. The ATM smelled awful and the people all wore mask – except me.
After 30-35 minutes, I came back with two bags full of essentials. Thankfully, my brother was there to do the heavy-lifting.
I realize that I don’t mind staying in, much like people think I would. I mean, mostly people suggest that staying in looks charming when you have a daily job. If you are confined within the four walls of your home, you would begin to appreciate just how essential it is to go out.
Nah, not for me. I don’t miss being outside.
But I am reminded of the tough times that are ahead of us. Allah, make it easy for us. Amen.
