Muharram 16, 1448 AH
I witnessed a 39-year-old woman weeping like a toddler because she was asked to wait for five minutes before dinner. She wasn’t starving, from what I know. She had her last meal two hours ago.
Once, I ate with someone who ate twice as much as I did. The tables were cleaned. Ten minutes later, they said: I’m hungry.
Me: Eyeroll, walk out of the room.
Now, I know, some people might think: kuch logoN se bhook bardasht nahin hoti.
These people don’t have any medical condition that makes them hungry or reduces their ability to survive hunger. They are just bhukkad. And I am like, is this what Mirza Ghalib meant when he said: Hota Hai Shab-o-Roz Tamasha Mere Aagey?
What more am I going to see?
