Doctor Bahu | Episode 17

Dr. Bahu explores the theme of quiet control hidden behind progressive appearances. In a respected family of doctors, their youngest non-doctor son is married to a doctor—adding another accomplished daughter-in-law to a household where women are not allowed to work.

When the youngest daughter-in-law enters this world, she begins to challenge the unspoken rules, subtly shifting power and exposing buried hypocrisies.

Writer: Sanam Mehdi Zaryab.
Directed by: Mehreen Jabbar.

Doctor Bahu Episode 17 Written Update and Review

Alright!

I’m going to try and keep this short. I was watching something else (Alex Meyers on “Off Campus”) and then I suddenly remembered I haven’t posted this one. I usually forget and then don’t get time or the right mindset for 3-4 days. That’d what happened with Sirf Shabana episode 17. So, here I am.

So, Ambar and Mina argue, and Faizan brings Ambar to his office. This is where the last episode ended.

Ambar has the same demand: marry me now or forget it. She doesn’t mention USA or Germany this time, just said she’s going out of Pakistan, which makes sense and doesn’t need us to guess, “bahen kahan ja rahi ho akhir?”

The answer is, nowhere. Because Faizan did arrange for a nikaah. Hmmm…

At home, Mina has moved to a different room. There’s some tu tu main main around it, with Farheen and Salman present but Faizan and Mina both are being adamant.

Saniya comes home to meet Saeeda. She shares some of her agony (hey, I don’t always hate her). Sumaira and Zainab comes back after shopping and Zainab is like: “I need to talk to you”.

I don’t know about Saniya but this time even I had a question: what did she do now? Does Zainab want Saniya to be like a robot? I don’t why Marina Khan picked up this role. Oh, on that note, I just want to mention that for the past three weeks, there’s one consistent to-do item in my list: Post about “Kya Drama Hai”. Now that I have mentioned it here, I’m hoping I finally get in the right mindset to write on that.

Where was I?

Faryal and Salman have a common friend Madiha. After leaving the job at Salman’s Islamabad office (which she didn’t have to because Salman DID give her time to find another job), Faryal has moved in with Madiha, I guess she must have felt it would be more convenient to be in the same city as Salman if she wants him back, right? Madiha can’t help Faryal for long and requests Salman to give the job back. Salman goes to see Faryal where she says very “adult” stuff to Salman in front of her very young son. At one point, Salman had to interrupt: can you not say that in front of him?

Salman convinces Faryal to move back to Islamabad, even arranged for flight tickets and chauffer driven car to pick her up. What else would Faryal want? She wants more, so much more. She says, and I quote, don’t do this for sympathy. I can’t accept it. If you still have feelings for me, then it’s okay.

Mera dimagh udd hi gaya, like blew out and went out the window, over the roof, and towards the night sky. I mean, I knew she is trouble the moment she made her entry into the plot but I hadn’t expected her to be such a…moron.

Saniya is hurt when she finds out, obviously, and as a reaction snaps at Sumaira. It reminded me of Winter Love Episode 13 I watched earlier today. Mushk snapped at her family and asked to be left alone. Saniya did the same.

What the heck is wrong with FMCs these days? Do they have no common sense? Or am I too old to understand what they are feeling? Old or not, here’s my two cents; it has always worked. Second of all, don’t ask questions when the other person is already agitated. First of all, don’t answer questions when you’re agitated. If you do, both situations will lead to something ugly. Walk away, call the beep down and then when you’re ready to face the world, “discuss” things.

This is probably too long for a post I was trying to keep short 😔

Saniya is not always right, Salman is not always right but they are both wrong very very often. Many a times, i feel that they were not ready for a commitment like marriage. They are both rebels like teenagers, perhaps shouldn’t have gotten married. But we wouldn’t have this drama then. What do I know. Going back to watch the video I left midway.

Salam!
