Alif | Episode 15

Qalb-e-Momin is back after Abdul Alaa’s funeral. Shakoor, the chatty yet loyal housekeeper is worried about Qalb-e-Momin.

The scene changes as Daud and Tina bicker about Qalb-e-Momin’s elongated absence. He comes back just then, with the script. Daud and Tina are blown away by the script.

He gets a call from Khaliq, the guy who will finance the film. Not finance per se, he will buy the paintings that Abdul Alaa gifted Qalb-e-Momin on his birthday – all seven of them.

Momina sees Suraiyya talking to imaginary Jehangir. Yep, schizophrenia. What a terrific expressions by Lubna Aslam. The doctor on the other hand, breathed so hard as though she had just come back from a marathon.

Qalb-e-Momin is watching Momina’s interview, quite amused and amazed. Until Momina says, without saying his name that she hates Qalb-e-Momin. On the other hand, Daud suggests that they hire Momina for lead role. Daud still braves and talks to Momina who refuses without reading the script – just as Qalb-e-Momin expected.

تنہائی بھی ہے، آرام بھی لیکن آرام تنہائی کو کم نہیں کرتا۔

So, Momina and her parents are not happy with the luxuries that she can now afford. Because humans are not grateful, ever. They now crave their busy and social life in their old mohalla.

Question: why can’t she pick another profession now that she has made some money and she doesn’t like this profession?

Haunted by the upsetting talk with Sultan, Momina goes through the script and the scene changes to past – Qalb-e-Momin’s childhood.

Now, we will see the rest of Taha and Husn-e-Jahan’s story.

I realize that I miss a few things since I know the story so here is a short summary of their backstory.

Taha has married Husn-e-Jahan but he isn’t happy because he feels that he has left Allah for a mere mortal. Also, Taha doesn’t like that Husn-e-Jahan is still in touch with Sultan. And, we see the scene that we have been watching in the trailer.

And, who told Taha about the litters? Qalb-e-Momin.

I have mentioned earlier that it was Qalb-e-Momin who had caused the rift between his parents and the consequences can be pinned on him. He didn’t know it, but it is all because of him.

That’s my take on Alif’s 15th episode. I was in train with no network, so I couldn’t post it yesterday.
