You can read my post about the cast and characters of Deewar-e-Shab.
I am yet to publish the novel review, but let me tell you this – the exposition is different, very different. The plot is straightened out for screen adaptation. It starts when Aapa Gul is still a kid and Islam and Izhar are still living in the same house.
We are introduced to a lot of characters. We see Sitara Jahan, Nageena, Feroza, Dildar Begum, Gulnaz and Faiz Ali at Sitara Mahal.
Nageena could not learn the art – dancing or singing. She’s lazy and careless. Nageena is being rude unnecessarily to Faiz Ali.
Feroza is the opposite. She is beautiful. She had learned the dance and song; and is obviously Sitara’s favourite.
Bushra Ansari owns the role as she does every time. Sitara Jahan’s hairstyle was a bit over the top and fake.
Asma Abbas does full justice to Dildar Begum’s character.
Nousheen Shah’s portrayal of Nageena is apt. Her colourful makeup and loud demeanour are spot on.
Zara Noor Abbas… The naaz nakhra is just in right amount. I think I am falling in love with her.
My dear Mohsin Abbas Haider plays Faiz Ali and he is oh-my-god so cute.
Tara Mehmood as Shaama is perfect.
