Allah Datta Malkani pakka Punjabi
This telefilm is a hilarious sitcomish take on a marriage between amir and Mariyam. Their parents are from the opposite end of the social spectrum. Mariyam parents are rich and urban. Amir’s parents are also rich but belong to a Punjabi dehati family.
The first time the two families meet is quite hilarious.
The parents have their own problems. His parents aren’t happy that he has chosen an urban girl as their daughter-in-law, and his mother tries every trick in the book to dissuade Haniya from the marriage.
On the other hand, her parents are already divorced and are hardly on talking terms. But for Haniya’s sake, they pretend to be cordial with each other. To make things worse, her mother invites her boyfriend to the wedding. Bravo!
Amidst all chaos, things get bitter between the bride-to-be and the groom-to-be. And, they call off the wedding.
The telefilm has a touch of western lifestyle, that he throws a bachelorette party for her. The family meets in a hotel and the situations are made for laughs. Sometimes, it works; sometimes it doesn’t.
The location is given more importance than the characters, so it seemed.
I have a general problem for all things Yasir Hussain. He is always himself – the way he delivers his lines and punches are always as if he is hosting a show and cracking joke.
Hania is pretty, oh so pretty.
Other characters do justice to their role, but nobody is outstanding as such.
I have learned that not all telefilms should be watched. This wasn’t bad, but didn’t impress me, either.
Anyways! Thanks for reading the review. Please leave comments below.
