Umrah Diaries | Day 8 | Last Day at Mecca

20th January 2020

Painful, was the beginning. I have an infection in middle finger of my left hand. The finger hurts again, so much that I had to take a painkiller early in the morning, like 6:30 AM. All for good though, because I was up for Fajr, which otherwise is still a tough task.

We will leave for Madina this afternoon.

After a quick bite, dad, Shakeeb and I headed for Haram Shareef for Tawaaf e Wida’.

Shakeeb had to part ways because we had a big 5L water cane in our bag for zamzam and the security didn’t allow it.

Haram Shareef was the emptiest I had seen, particularly the ground floor Mataaf area. Even with dad’s slow speed, we finished Tawaaf in 35 minutes. It was so empty, if Shakeeb was with me, I would have immediately begun second Tawaaf after 2 rakaat wajib-u-tawaaf. I know I am being greedy, but hey, this greed is justified.

Dad and I offered a long dua before heading back to the hotel. The bus will leave shortly after lunch and I still have some packing to do.

It has been two hours and Shakeeb hasn’t been back, sending me into another bout of frenzy. The first one was on Wednesday, when he did the same after Fajr.

Waiting for him anxiously, I have packed all bags, checked and rechecked that no belongings are left behind. I am down to deposits 4 bags at the reception for checkout. Very few people around. I can access all the internet I want.

Alvida Mecca, until next time.

Prayers and love for all ummah.
