A Retrospective: The week that was – 19w23

Being back at work sucks, literally!

I had hoped, much like I do every time I take a vacation, that the break will rejuvenate me and make me like my job more. It DIDN’T.

Let me rephrase that. I don’t hate my job. I am just perpetually tired, and the to-and-fro work feels more exhausting than it should. My insomnia makes things worse.

The week started when we arrived at Pune station. The train stopped at platform number 6. We took the back side exit and I regretted it immediately. No auto rickshaw, no cab was ready to take us to our place. I even tried Ola (the indian rival of Uber) and the ride was booked, except the auto rickshaw was 500 meters away. 500 is not a long distance, if

  1. The roads are empty
  2. There are no water puddles
  3. You don’t have twenty five kgs of weight to drag with you
  4. It is not 38 degress celcius with crazy humidity

I cancelled the ride and decided to walk a little ahead, hoping to get a ride. We reached another auto rickshaw stop. Seven auto rickshaws were there but NOBODY was agreeing to go ANYWHERE. Those drivers were just sitting there, doing nothing. After twenty five minutes, I had given hope of reaching office before the sacred 11 AM deadline. I decided that it is best to go home and take the day off. Things changed in that moment. My brother managed to convince one driver to take us home. One driver agreed to take me to my office. Being the observant person I am, I had noticed two other desperate souls going to the same IT park. I offered them to share the ride with me and saved some money.

The rest of the week was uneventful, except it was freaking HOT! Monsoon still playing hide and seek.

How was your work week?
