The year was 2008 and I had just discovered that there is a website that plays videos and it is NOT forbidden. By IT security team, yet.

The site was YouTube, my dear friend and companion YouTube.

It was like finding a treasure. I wasn’t much into Bollywood music until then. And, I preferred ghazals.

So, naturally, I googled for my then favourite singer Salma Agha. The video that came up was not really a video. It was simply the lyrics written in Jameel Noori Nastaleeq as the audio played in the background. I listened to her in loop.

Faraz’s beautiful lyrics and Salma Agha’s nasal rendition made it a worthy watching / listening experience.

ہم فقط زیب حکایت تھے، فسانہ تو تھا

This isn’t in Jameel Noori Nastaleeq. I haven’t been able to set it up yet. If anyone knows how to do that for a WordPress site, please comment. Your help is much appreciated.
